Thank the Lord for another great Sunday. God is continuing to be present in our services in a powerful way. Several were in the altar today.

Prayer requests.

Sister Marie Moore's sister is in Paris hospital with cancer. The doctors have said she may go at any time. We prayed with her today. Keep this family in your prayers.

Sister Susie Reynolds continues to desire prayer. She is in considerable pain and is scheduled for knee replacement surgery on May 23.

Lori Rivera is in need of prayer.

Jason Gordon is in need of prayer.

Shiloh (Sister Cathey Coleman's daughter) is in need of prayer.

Delilah Mummel desires prayer.

Our Youngest Grandchild's Birthday

Aviana turned four this week (05/02/07) and will have a Birthday party tomorrow (05/05/07). She is one of our GRANDS and we love her very much! We plan to be there.

Update from Pastor Winchester - Urgent Prayer

This will be brief. Michelle stopped breathing 4 times today. She had been in a step down icu unit but is back in icu. Doctors do not give any hope in any way. Joann is with her as well as our son Greg, his family and Michelle's family live in Springfield ( MO). We are fully aware of the greatness of our Lord. We trust the Lord and are depending on the will of God to be performed. Please pray for Michelle and her family, our son Greg. Also children Holden (6) and Ginny (14) who is scheduled to graduate in just a few days.

NATIONAL PRAYER DAY

Thursday, May 3rd is National Prayer Day. Please be involved in this special time that President Bush has declared as a special day for uniting in prayer all across the nation. There will be venues and joint efforts in many churches, towns, cities and governmental agencies. Lets ring the prayer bells of heaven. The Father waits to hear from His children every day and especially on this notable day.

Sunday Evening

There was a great spirit of worship and fellowship again tonight. Brother Billy Lambert challenged us with a great message of seeking for the fire of God in our lives and services. We enjoyed them being with us and enjoyed their singing as well. We appreciate the faithful ones who come as well.

Prayer Requests

Cindy Duncan, wife of Casey Duncan, is in Jackson General Hospital with very high blood pressure and complications in carrying their baby. She is the grandaughter of Brother and Sister Lambert and daughter-in-law of Ronnie and Patsy Duncan (Bear), Sister of Terry Bear. Karen and I visited and prayed with Ron and Cindy this afternoon. Pray that the baby will come healthy. A C-Section is scheduled to be performed later this week or first of next week. The doctors are waiting as long as possible to give the baby as full development as possible.

Sister Jennie Sanders called requesting prayer. She reported severe pain in her hip. Pray for her and call her to let her know that she is in your prayers.

Sister Susie Reynolds is in severe pain and has to be in a wheelchair. She is scheduled for knee replacement later in May. Pray for her and contact her.

Sister Mildred Stacey continues to request prayer. She is scheduled for knee replacement on June 4 at Huntingdon Baptist Hospital.

Sister Sharon Caruthers is recovering from her 7th hip replacement. Continue to pray for her and contact her and let her know you are praying for her.

Sunday School saw new visitors. We welcomed the Lambert family and their granddaughter, Jessica. The Lamberts were new to the senior class. Jessica was a new teen visitor. This made the 10th teen to be in the teen class since it had its new beginning back in December with only two teens - Montana and Cody Maness. We also welcomed Jonah Davis who is one of our older adolescents. We are still praying for a regular teacher but I am enjoying being in the class with the teens and hearing their responses and input. Today's lesson was on Loyalty and the passage was from Daniel's writings and covered the account of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednigo - three very loyal servants of God.

It was great to be in the worship hour. The presence of the Lord was exceptional. Several came forward for prayer for different needs. The singing, the testimonys and the fellowship were great! We were challenged the in message to "Count The Cost of Discipleship."

Tonight, Brother Lambert, who is a minister, will be bringing the message.

Ladies Day

I picked Karen up from Ladies Day. I arrived when the last session was going and enjoyed sitting in and hearing a good message and a time of worship. It was good to see several ladies where we have pastored and to greet them. Karen said the services, fellowship, and food was great. I also saw my mother, brother and sister-in-law there. My Brother and Sister-in-Law served as hostesses for part of the snack time. Thank God for great Christian ladies who love the Lord and work for Him.

Ladies Day

I will be leaving to take Karen to Ladies Day at the Camp Hickory Hills campground in Dickson very soon. She is exited about getting to go be with ladies all througout the state and some from other states and churches.

We will look forward to hearing good reports from her when she returns. The ladies who had planned to attend each had something to hinder them from going the last minute (sickness, other last minute appointments, etc.). Each one stated that they wanted to plan the day again next year. Karen is going and looking for a good time in the Lord and with the other ladies. She is cabin host and leader in one of the cabins.

Dove Awards

Karen and I have planned to attend the Gospel Music Association Dove Awards for a long time. This year, Karen made plans and we attended as part of our 25th Marriage Anniversary. It was an enjoyable evening for Karen and I. Actually, she bought the tickets and planned this as a surprise to me. What a surprise!

There were songs by Mercy Me, Stellar Kart, Leyland, Steven Curtis Chapman, Mac Powell, Chris Tomlin (who was awarded several Doves), Toby Mac, Kirk Franklin, Mark Hall, Aaron Shust (awarded at least two doves) DecembeRadio, Red, Family Force Five, The Crab Family, Brian Free and Assurance, and several others that I can't remember.

Donnie McClurkan, Natalie Grant and Brian Littrell were the hosts. There were appearances by several entertainers who read the nominees and awards (Brenda Lee and Bill Anderson to name a couple).

Visit

I visited with Vernon again today. Vernon told me that Sharon came through the surgery okay. Now they need continued prayer for Sharon's recovery.

PRAYER REQUEST

Today I visited with Vernon Caruthers at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, TN. Vernon's wife, Sharon, is having her 7th hip replacement after much difficulty and complications. Vernon and I have been friends since we were early teens. Vernon and I attended church together as teens and also sang in a quartet together for about 4-5 years in our early and mid-twenties. After Vernon's father died when he was about 13, Vernon used to visit my home and I picked him up for church some. I also visited with Vernon at his home in Kingston Springs. We married sisters. Sharon is the sister of Darlene, who passed on to glory in early 1982. Vernon Pastors the Church of God of Prophecy in Campaign, TN. Remember Sharon is your prayers.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Pray for the family of Brent Gregory who died recently.

Pray for the Daughter-in-law of Pastor C. C. Winchester and Sister Joann Winchester. Pastor Winchester informed me today that she is not doing very well. Continued prayer is needed.
Below is an email that I received from Pastor Winchester.

Just want to give you an update on our daughter-in-law, Michelle's condition. She has Diffuse Axonal Injury (DAI). Damage to the pathways(axons) that connect the different areas of the brain. This occurs when there is twisting and turning of the brain tissue at the time of the injury. The brains messages are slowed or lost. Treatment is aimed at managing swelling in the brain because torn axons can not be repaired.The outcome is frequently coma with over 90% of patients never regaining consciousness. Those that do wake up often remain significantly impaired. The doctor told us yesterday that she would probably be in avegetative state if she should wake up. At this time all the other injuries are healing, we already know that unless God undertakes she will never walk again, but we can live with that.We know that we serve a God that can heal all things, and we are depending on Him for the answers now. Thank you for keeping Greg, Michelle and their family in your prayers.

Death Announcement

Brent Gregory of Bruceton, TN died recently. He has friends at the Huntingdon Church of God of Prophecy. He and his family attended when he was younger. His brother Bruce pastored in Texas and now serves as a counselor in a youth facility. Below is information from the Dilday Funeral Home site. The funeral has been delayed for family to arrive from distant places. I plan to visit the family today.

Mr. Brent Gregory, 41, of Bruceton, Tennessee, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 23, 2007 at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Gregory was born March 29, 1966 in Denver, Colorado, to the late Wilson William and Estella Arellano Gregory. He was self-employed. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Brandon Espinoza. He is survived by his companion, Cathy Fitzgerald, three daughters, Jennifer Mayo, Crystal Crockarell, Britney Gregory, a son, Samuel Evan Arellano Gregory, all of Huntingdon, TN, two brothers, Bruce Gregory, of Texas, Mark Gregory, of Huntingdon, TN, a sister, Tina Costillo, of Washington. He also leaves three grandchildren, Keith and Seth Crockarell, and Merlin Melendez. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5 PM till 9 PM at Dilday Funeral Home and on Monday from 8 Am till time of services.

Great Sunday

The service today was highlighted by each member praying over a small cloth as it was anointed to be sent out with a letter from the church to a needy person. Thank God for our Savior who answers prayer. The presence of the Lord was very evident as tears and cries flowed for those who have fallen away or have been taken in the snare of the enemy. We are believing in God for a great time of revival and spiritual growth.

Another visitor was present in our teen class today. We welcomed Zach Hardy. He was very involved in the class discussion. Thank God for our teens and for all the other classes and teachers. Brother Leon Reynolds (SS Superintendant) is very involved in the the Sunday School and cares much for the teachers and students.

Tonight

Karen and I enjoyed visiting the Bone restaurant in Gleason this evening. The Southern Gospel Singing group Grace Abounds along with Denise and Delilah (new name Sisters In Grace) were there also. The owner has regular visits from singers and friends who come in to enjoy the music. There was a great spirit of fellowship. The songs were great and the pie and tea were good too. There should be more places like this for Christians to visit and enjoy.

Tennessee Ladies Day

Ladies Day is April 27 & 28 at the state campground. Applications should have been postmarked no later than April 5th to receive the early-bird discount (a savings of $10.00) All ladies are encouraged to send in applications today!

Sister Gordon is attending and some ladies from the school (Creswell Arts Magnet) where she teaches are planning to attend as her guests. The ladies are African Americans and one of them is displaced from the Katrina hurricane and is a Church of God in Christ pastor's wife. Another one comes by way of New York from Jamaica and the other is from Memphis and has recently received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. They are anticipating a great time in the Lord there

Prayer for the Times

Glory, honor, praise and worship to our heavenly Father and to His Son Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. There seems to be more and more tragedies in our land and to this end and for that cause I pray against the spirit of evil. I pray for those who have been adversely affected by the massacre at Virginia Tech. May there be peace, comfort and healing in their paths as they continue to walk on and move forward. I pray for the families that have a family member killed or wounded. Help them as they morn and grieve over their loss and may anger not tarry in their grieving process. May they find the strength and resolve to forgive. May any anger they feel be directed towards the evil that caused this disaster (not the person, family or ethnic group) and may it be directed towards seeking You for more grace and power to fight that evil. I pray for the family of the murderer that God will give them the strength to continue on with their lives amidst any spirits of anger and vengeance - for we know that you, O God, are the judge and avenger of all things and the healer of those whose hearts are broken. I pray for the faculty and staff at VT that God will give them the wisdom and fortitude for continued stability and peace in their classrooms.

Surely we live in the last of the last days and evil will continue to be rampant in our land and throughout the world. May we be strong in the Lord and the power of His might during these most trying evil times. Even in our rural local communities of faith and churches evil surfaces and boils that brings about divisions, hurt, anger, bitterness and separation. O Mighty God, I pray that the spirit of division, hurt, anger, bitterness and separation be broken among us and that you will have the preeminence among us. May we seek peace and be at peace as much as possibly lies within us. As President Bush noted in his address to VT, "may we overcome evil with good and not be overcome by evil." AMEN! AMEN! AND AMEN!

Lillie Bernice "Bunchie" Jones-Lawson

Sister Lillie Bernice "Bunchie" Jones-Lawson died today. Below is a message by the pastor where she attends church. Sister Jones served with her huband L. C. Jones when he was State Overseer of Tennessee back in the 1950's and 60's.

Dear Friends,

It saddens my heart to have to pass on the news that Sis. Lillie Bernice "Bunchie" Jones Lawson has passed away. Her passing was sudden and unexpected and we extend our deepest sympathy to her children and the rest of her extended family. Funeral arrangements are pending and I will provide the schedule of services VIA another email as soon as they are available.

Please be in prayer for the family and her church community as we mourn the loss of this spiritual giant who will be greatly missed.

Service Today and Prayer Requests

God blessed today as we worshipped and praised the Lord. We welcome new visitors Mrs. Holland and Mrs. Allen and also a new teen (Keith) in our teen class. Thank God for His presence and for each one that was present.

Brother J. E. Moore has been sick all of the past week with chest congestion and coughing.

Sister Donna Crossno was sick today with congestion and coughing.

Brother Stanley Reynolds has a friend (Bill Perry) in Vanderbilt hospital with terminal cancer.

Brother Don VanMeter goes to the Martin Hospital for tests this week.

Sister Susie Reynolds is now in a wheel chair until she can have surgery the last week of May.

Sister Mildred Stacey is scheduled for knee replacement on June 4th at Huntingdon hospital.

Sister Jennie Sanders needs continued prayer for fluid build-up in her legs and feet.

Sister Peggy Heath is sick with congestion and coughing.

Sister Virginia Davis has congestion and coughing.

Remember these in prayer and call them to encourge them.

Sister Delilah Mummel and Sister Denise Pyburn (also biological sisters) entered an amateur gospel singing preview sponsored by Gospel Radio Station 93.1 Good News in Jackson, TN. The preview was held and judged in Humboldt, TN. They were placed at the top out of the three that were given the go for the next step (semi-finals) to be held in September near Lexington, TN. The judges told them that they had no problem choosing them as the first one. Both of these ladies were raised in the Huntingdon area and grew up attending the Church of God of Prophecy here. CONGRATULATIONS TO THESE SISTERS.

Sister Delilah is presently very active in the local church ministry as a member of the Praise and Worship Team, Assistant Youth Leader and Bulletin Coordinator. She loves the Lord and serves faithfully. She has blessed our services many times with her solos. She lives in Huntingdon with her husband, Jeremy and his son Austin. She has dedicated her life to use her gift for the glory of God. Denise is married and lives in Lexington, TN. She attends church there with her husband and two sons and another one on the way. She teaches elementary school there as well. WE ARE PROUD OF BOTH OF YOU!

The Sisters will be interviewed on 93.1 Good News Radio Station in Jackson, TN from 8-10 pm Sunday evening April 15, 2007.

GREAT MEN'S DAY

Tennessee Men's Ministries State Director, Chuck Bailey, put together a great Men's Day at the Dickson Campground. The theme was "Supermen for God." If I had some of those super hero comics books from my boyhood days, I could cash in on some green since the older ones are sought after by collectors. It was very reminiscent to see the Super Hero decor and to enjoy the camaraderie of competition in the shooting match and throwing games. I was "lucky" enough to come in second in one round of competition and won a Spider man shirt and the book, No More Christian Nice Guy by Paul Coughlin. The messages by Shannon Bowdoin, Leon Graves, Don Smith and Director Chuck Bailey were great and centered around our great Superman, Jesus Christ and being a Superman Christian. We were encouraged to be obedient, powerful praisers (and not let the ladies do all the praising) and committed men of God. Of course the food was great!

Thank God for the great men of God throughout the Church of God of Prophecy in Tennessee.

Men's Retreat

From State Overseer E. C. McKinley at Voice of Hope

In just a few days, men will be gathering from across the State of Tennessee to participate in a highly anticipated event. On Friday and Saturday, April 13-14, 2007 Camp Hickory Hills will be the site for what looks to be one of the best-attended Men's retreat in a long, long time.

Chuck Bailey, our State Men's Director has been working for some time to make preparations for a successful event. I plan on being there, along with many of our pastors for what will be a great time of worship, fellowship, fun and good food!

Visit and Prayer Requests

Today, Karen and I visited with our niece's little son, Zachery Cantrell, who is in Vanderbilt Childrens' Hospital. He has been in serious condition but is now doing some better. Stacey, our niece requests prayer for him and the family during this time.

I spoke to Sister King today. She and Rita are doing well. They traveled with her nephew for Easter this year. She requests continued prayer for Rita.

There were several requests that came in Sunday.

We continue to pray for those in our families and community who don't know Christ as their Savior and Lord.

Easter Service Today

Today was Easter and we thank God for a great day! Below are some pictures. It was good to see Sister Joyce Grace's daughter Krystel and her friend in church today. It was good also to see Sister Joann Blow back in service.

Each child was given a prize and I explained that the tomb of Christ is empty and now He fills our hearts.

We missed some of our people who traveled to Fields of the Wood for the Easter Program. It was, nevertheless, a great Easter Sunday for which we give the Lord the glory!

UPDATE - YESTERDAY AND TODAY

Yesterday Karen and I visited with Sister Jennie Sanders. She testified that the Lord has touched her hands and she can now crochet again. She is 88 years young and continues to pray that she can be well enough to come to church.

We then visted with Sister Peggy Heath in her new apartment. We had a good visit with her. She gave us an Easter Card and an offering. We enjoyed the visit with her.

We also visted for a few minutes with their friend Pauline in the lobby of the apartments.

We then visited with Sister Mildred Stacey. She is awaiting knee replacement surgery scheduled for June 4th. We were welcomed and enjoyed the visit.

We then visited with Sister Lilly Grooms. She continues to desire prayer for shortness of breath and heart problems. We prayed with each of these elderly sisters.

Today I visited with the neighbor that moves in next to church a few months ago. The young man's name is Joey. I did not get a last name but did invite him to our services.

I also visited the McKenzie Rehabilitation Facility where Sister Lenne Mae Crossno is. She was sleeping and I did not want to awake her. She continues to struggle with memory and thinking ability. I will visit her again in the future.

We pray for each of these. Call them and/or go by and see them and pray for them.

The Tomb of Jesus

With all the hype about the so-called discovery of Jesus' tomb, many Christians are up in arms. Does it surprise us that this type of information surfaces again and again? It shouldn't. The adversary, the devil, will try to discredit Christ's death, burial and resurrection as long as he is on this earth. The question pops up. . .does evidence bring faith or does faith bring evidence? Well perhaps it is both depending on the occasion - remember Thomas wanting to see and touch Jesus nail holes in his hands and pierced side. Yet, the Bible tells us that "without faith it is impossible to please God, for he that comes to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Heb. 11:6 Whether faith comes before evidence or evidence comes before faith is not the most needed question to ask. The most needed question to ask is, "do you know that you know that you know Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord?" After Thomas saw and touched Jesus he proclaimed "my Lord and My God!" Was it just because he saw and touched Jesus that he could say my Lord and my God? NO!

God created man with a spirit and God is a Spirit. The Bible says His Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are the sons (and daughters) of God. One may say, "that is subjective." Do we say that the Holy Spirit is subject to carnal whims and desires? NO! When a person comes, as the Heavenly Father draws them, to Christ and repents, confesses and cries to God for salvation - the Holy Spirit does the work in their minds and hearts - regardless of how much theology, philosophy or psychology ones knows or does not know.

Yes, there is evidence by extant writings all the way from the time of Old Testament to the New Testament, to the Early Church Fathers, to the Patristic Apologists, to the Middle Ages, to the Reformation, to the Great Awakenings, to the Pentecostal outpourings and the spread of the Gospel in many heathenistic, non-Christian nations. Whether one believes because they read and grasp the evidence of thousands of years that show the historical Christ and his death, burial and resurrection or whether they believe because they exercise their faith in the simple message of he death, burial and resurrection of Christ - the Holy Spirit must be the One to bring conviction, redemption and regeneration. Thank God for Jesus Christ!

John 20:29-31 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Easter Sunrise Service

The Community Easter Sunrise Service will be conducted by the Huntindon Ministerial Alliance. It will begin at 7 am at the Huntingdon High School Gym. Jimmy Brooks will bring the message. I encourage our folks to attend. I have scheduled to be there.

MOVING FORWARD

I remember one of former General Overseer Billy Murray's emphasis was "forward." This left a strong impression on me as a minister of the gospel of Christ. This encourged me to be more proactive in ministry in regards to what is important to our Chief Apostle and Captain of our faith.

While we have our times of planning and preparation, God continues to move forward. He knows what He is doing and does not need our pitiful plans. . . It has been said "to fail to plan is to plan to fail." More clearly it could be said, "to fail to plan in God's plan is to plan to fail." Moving forward in Christ's plan most assuredly means to be involved in those things that he prioritizes. He gave his life, blood, sweat, and tears for the salvation of the lost and to bring His church to His perfection (totally complete).

We know for sure that He will "present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish." Eph. 5:27

So we his people must declare His gospel with persistence and power. Jesus said in, John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one goes to the Father except through me." State Overseer, E. C. McKinley announces that the State Convention posters and information will come out in the next WHIT. The Convention is scheduled for July 27-29 at the Chattanooga, TN Convention Center.

Wednesday Evening & Prayer Requests

We are thanking the Lord for a good time of prayer and bible study last evening. The children present also sang some songs. Brooks, England and Mariah sang and we enjoyed their singing.

Sister Jennie Sanders continues to desire prayer.

Sister Donna requested prayer for Alton and Delilah.

Several requests came in for lost family members.

I requested prayer for God's will in the Pastoral Appointment for Huntingdon for the next two years. Pastoral appointments are made or finalized at the State Convention which convenes the weekend of July 27-29 at the Chattanooga Convention Center in Chattanooga, TN.

Keep The Flame Burning

The meeting with Area Presbyter Clayton Mahan as the moderator was a great blessing. State Overseer, E. C. McKinley preached an encouraging and challenging message. The State Staff gave presentations, which were helpful. Pastors from the whole area were present and many of the church members. Thank God for a great time!

AREA WIDE MEETING - KEEP THE FLAME BURNING

Sunday night, April 1, will be the area wide meeting at the Big Sandy church. State Overseer, E. C. McKinley will be preaching. The meeting is part of the Keep The Flame Burning meetings that Overseer McKinley is conducting througout the state.

There will be no local service at the Huntingdon church on that night and we will be encouraging our people to attend.

GLORIOUS TIME IN GOD'S PRESENCE

The presence of the Lord was mighty among us today. Shouts of joy. Tears of joy. There were Several in the altar seeking God. Two young men, Jonah and Jacob Davis eyes were flooding as the Spirit moved upon them. The mother held them, one in each arm, as the Holy Spirit was very evident upon them. Testimonies came forth of God's blessings. Every age was rejoicing all over the building as the peace of God flowed. The Holy Ghost spoke and said, "I give you my peace, I give you my love, receive my peace, receive my love. . ." We were uplifted, overjoyed, filled up and running over. What a glorious time as God came and manifested in such a marvelous way.

Scheduled revival is over but the revival of the Holy Ghost in our hearts and and among us continues.

Bethel College Madrigal Chorale

Yesterday evening, Karen and I enjoyed hearing the Bethel College Chorale singing some of the older songs of our US history. Songs such as Oh Suzanna, Let Me Call You Sweetheart, Nelly Bly, Shenandoah and others were sung. There were songs of faith as well, such as Amazing Grace, Shall We Gather At The River and others. It was a great evening of memorable songs. The Chorale dressed in early American regalia and sang and acted some of the songs out with a brief skit. Our son Jason continues in the Music Education degree studies at Bethel College.

GRANDPARENT'S DAY

Yesterday, I so much enjoyed going to Grandparent's Day at Westmoreland School where my Grandaughter, Courtney, attends. She is a happy third grader and is making straight A's. I enjoyed being with her and eating lunch with her. I also visited with my Daughter, Heather, Courtney's mother, who was substituting in the first grade.

Sister Shenna McCaleb and Brother and Sister Weakley were also there. Sister McCaleb showed me wedding pictures of one of her daughter's wedding. We enjoyed sharing about our children and my grandchildren (she does not have any yet). It was good to see Brother and Sister Weakly who were there to be with Sister McCaleb's young son as his "Grandparents."

It was a very special day being with my oldest grandchild.

Prayer Request

Sister Helen Beasley is in Baptist Hospital diagnosed with cancer. The prognosis is a type of cancer with no cure and surgery is not recommended at this time. Please pray for Sister Beasley and for the family. Brother Beasley serves as a Deacon and Sister Beasley is the treasurer of the East Nashville Church of God of Prophecy. Dr. George McDowell is the pastor. I prayed with Brother and Sister Beasley during the day on Monday. Dr. McDowell came in while I was there.

I served this church for over four years in the late 90's and early 2000's. Brother Beasley called for prayer for all who will pray. Karen and I visited later that evening.

REVIVAL

Tonight was the last night of scheduled revival but the revival spirit continues. Thank God for a great time tonight with Brother Gerald Scott as the guest minister. The message was Choose. It was a great message emphasizing the choice of life or death and encouragement to choose life.

The songs by Delilah Mummel, Shiloh Hernandez, Summer and Austin Mummel were a blessing. Sister Scott also sung The Anchor Holds.

The altar service was a great blessing. Shiloh prayed and testified of how God is dealing with her and she wants to follow Him. She prayed and we prayed with her. She testified of how God has helped her get her life stable and to keep her children. She said that God has helped her get her life clean and she is wanting to know what God's purpose is for her life.

God is moving among us. To God be the Glory.

REVIVAL CONTINUES

Thank God for another great time of revival service. God's presence was felt especially as each expressed their love to the Lord and each other. The message was from Jude 22-25. Thank God for the blessed Holy Ghost and the way He helps us pray. God help us to have compassion and "snatch those nearest to eternity out of the flames."

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEEN CLASS

The teen class is growing. This is part of the class. Two were out today. We are having a great time learning together. This quarter has been on Relationships thus far and the teens are really getting into the studies. Today's lesson was Purity in Relationships.

On the left in the back is Wesley Spangler and in front is Montanna Maness. On the right in back is Blair Pinson, she is the newest member of the class. In front on the right is B. J. Lawrence. We are growing for the Lord.

Currently, I am teaching this class and we are praying for someone to feel the call to teach and minister to this class.

REVIVAL

Thank the Lord for another great night of revival. Pastor Don Lawrence came and delivered a great message from the book of Philemon. We were challenged to be "profitable servants" to the Lord.

Several came to hear him that have not been to church for a while to renew "old friendships." Brother Lawrence attended and ministered at the Huntingdon church for about 13 years in the youth ministry and as assistant pastor. It was good to see Kelly and Beth Moore and their new little daughter also the grandparents, James and Rita Moore and Sammy and Dee Walker. We were glad to see them in church. Brother J. E. Moore and Sister Marie Moore are "proud" great-grandparents of the little daughter, Annison.


We were also very happy to see several new youth present along with some of our regulars. Names not included since I did not get them all and would make a mess if I tried to list them.

Sister Lori Rivera sang "My Redeemer Lives" which was a great blessing. Sister Delilah sang a very encourging song that is one of my favorites. Brother Don sang a couple songs, "I Can't Even Walk" and "Looking For The Messiah."

Revival continues tonight with Brother Gerald Scott of Paris, TN. He pastored in Missouri and Arkansas for some time.

REVIVAL

What a great time in revival tonight. We were blessed to hear State Overseer, E. C. McKinley. His message encouraged us to realize that each one goes through a "cutting time" in their spiritual walk. This "cutting" brings out the character that God wants in each one. He used the passages found in 2 Kings 16:31-33 & 17:1-9. The message was timely. . . .

Brother Randy Crowder sang a powerful rendition of "I'd Rather Have Jesus." Sister Delilah Mummel sang "I Don't Have Closet Religion" and her dad, Alton, sang, "Cooling Water" and "Greater Is He". These songs were a great blessing.

Brother C. C. Winchester and the Paris church were a great blessing to us by coming and attending Thursday and Friday evening and also Brother Winchester's message on Thursday evening was a great blessing.

Some folks from the Solid Rock church were also present. We enjoyed so much their presence and participation.

The revival continues tonight with Pastor Donald Lawrence. We will be encouraging and focusing on youth ministry. Brother Donald attended Huntingdon and ministered here some before going into pastoral work.

REVIVAL

Thank God for another great night of revival! We enjoyed the visits of the folks from Paris Church of God of Prophecy and from Solid Rock Church here in Huntingdon. Bishop C. C. Winchester preached a great message using the text from Matthew 14:22-33. We were encouraged to be like Peter when we are sinking from the storms of life. Peter cried, "Lord, save me." The singing, worship, testimonies and special songs were great!

The first night of the revival was great! The Solid Rock Church folks came, along with Pastor Bobby Jordan. The worship, singing, testimonies and preaching were great! Thank the Lord for His presence. Several were in the altar. There was great fellowhip. We appreciate the folks and Pastor Jordan from the Solid Rock Church. Several testified to God's blessings and healing in their bodies. Sister Marie Moore was there and gave a wonderful testimony of God's healing. She had been diagnosed with bone marrow cancer a few months ago, but recent bone marrow testing showed no signs of cancer. PRAISE THE LORD!

PICTURES FROM REELFOOT LAKE TRIP

The lake is 5.5 ft. average depth with a small area that is 20 feet deep. There is some proof that the lake is slowly being taken over by land that is breaking away and falling in upon it from boats that cause waves to beat the shore and there is no water feed other than rain and two very small streams. The prediction is that 100 years from now it will be a very small body of water since it will mostly evaporate and the land will continue to break away and come in on it. The lake has receeded considerably over the past 190 plus years according to records.

Karen enjoys the fresh daffodills or butter cups or whatever you like to call them, on the boardwalk entrance to the rooms of the Airline State Park Motel built over the Reelfoot Lake.
A Falcon Hawk and an Eagle are caged together for treatment. Both are birds of prey that inhabit the Reelfoot lake area.

Two fishermen who spoke to us. They are from Ohio and asked us what to do to get the fish to bite. Of course, Karen and I did not have a clue. They said they were enjoying the quite, peaceful environment and glad to not have large, speeding motor boats disturbing them. Only small flatbottom boats can travel on the lake because of a large amount of fallen trees and stumps. There is also a special boat built for the lake by a local builder who builds them by hand. It can easily slide over underwater trees and stumps. It has a shield built over the small motor that propels the boat. Other boats have to stay in the areas that are deep enough to stay away from the stumps. Bald Eagle being being kept caged and treated. We were told there are twelve-thirteen couples who nest there during the nesting season - late December-February - but no new little ones this year. We did not see any flying over the lake but were told they stay in the general area and are not migrating birds.

Headed Back Home

Karen and I are headed back home. She is driving and I'm. . .well you know. We had an awesome 24 hour retreat and revitalizing time. We enjoyed the scenery and the historical type presentation at the State Park info center. We are passing through Dresden right now.

The white, pink, yellow and lavender buds are showing God's handiwork. Karen says, "I had a good time relaxing and sitting on the balcony watching the wildlife and reflexions in the water.

SUNDAY MARCH 17

Thank the Lord for another great Sunday. Several were back to church and several others were out. If everyone was present each Sunday for a full month our average would be 50 plus but since some are traveling and some are out for other reasons. . .well

The Lord was very present in our midst. Several came around the altar to pray for the revival that is beginning Wednesday evening this week at 7 pm.

Our family night changed to 3rd Sunday instead of 4th for the revival.

Karen and I headed to Reelfoot Lake at 3:30 Sunday evening for a 24 hour get away. We've never been and also wanted to have some time to relax, meditate and pray for the upcoming revival. More later. . .

My brother, Tony, works as a Florist and Caterer. He made Mom's two cakes. The cakes were awesomely delicious. One was an Italian Creme and the other was a Vanilla with Strawberry Creme in the layers. Both were decorated beatuifully. Thanks Tony!

Birthday Surprise for Mom

All mom's children (3), grandchildren (7) and great-grandchildren (9) were present for Mom's 77th birthday surprise today at my oldest Daughter's (Danita) house. It was a joyous occasion. It was good to see all of our families together and to sing happy Birthday to Mom. She has been a "trooper." We love you Mom (Anna Beatrice Cathey)! She is a great, loving mother who loves the Lord.

PRAISE REPORT

Brother J. E. Moore called today and reported that the bone marrow exam of Sister Moore came back negative. PRAISE THE LORD! The initial diagnosis was positive. the Doctor advised that she should continue as if nothing ever happened but they do want to re-test in six months. Thank God for this report!

Wednesday Evening & Prayer Requests

We were blessed with the presence of the Lord tonight. We were encouraged to "be not weary (don't loose heart) in well doing for in due season we shall reap if we faint not." Gal. 6:9 Several prayer requests were given. Some are listed below.

Pray for Leon Reynolds oldest sister. She is in intensive care at the Huntingdon Baptist Hospital. I visited with her tonight and Brother Leon and myself offered prayer. She was resting when I left.

Pray for Sister Lori Rivera.

Pray for Sister Marie Moore who was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer.

Pray for revival and for the lost in our families and in the community.

Pray for the development of the new church property.

Pray for the leaders and each ministry - Adult, Family, Youth, Children, Womens and Mens ministry.

TODAY

Pardon some personal notes here. For those who read this and will, your prayers are appreciated.

My days are full of reading multiple books, studying various biblical themes and historical theories, and writing 2000-5000 word papers. My time to complete the first five courses in the DMin. ends the last day of July. I have completed two and part of two others but it has been a year and half since I started. I need to accelerate my studies so as not to loose the credits that are not finished or have to pay an extension. That is why, so far today, I have given 7 hours into these studies.

I have also registered for four other courses to be completed by the end of November.

These studies are very helpful and focused on ministry on the DMin level and they take considerable time, effort and energy.

My prayer is that these studies, Theology of Ministry, Advanced Leadership, Themes and Modalities that Affect Today's Preacher, Advanced Contemporary Apologetics, Advanced Contemporary Hermeneutics, and four doctoral level counseling courses (Crisis, Youth, Family, and Church Counseling Ministry) will enhance my ability to minister more affectively and skilfully in the pastoral ministry and/or other ministries that may be in the future.

More Time. . .???

The song Wait a Little Longer Please Jesus, used to be sung quite often among Christians. Later there was the song, My House Is Full But My Fields are Empty, emphasizing the need for workers to enter the harvest outside their comfort zones of inward focus and inward maintenance. Some are ready to say strongly, "even so come Lord Jesus." Evidence leads Christian scholars to believe that the fulfillment of time for Christ to return is close - even at the door. Do Christians continue to cry for more time or, does His cry for more involvement in the last of the last days work before His return drown out every attempt to raise a voice more prominent than His? More time. . . .??? How much more. . .??? ". . .the devil has come down to you (the world), having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time" (Rev. 12:12b). The Almighty will signal a halt to time as we know it. . . . "Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. . .", said the Apostle Paul some 1950 years ago. Do Christians see where we are in time? Do Christians need more reminders? More time. . .??? "Time shall be no longer," (Rev. 10:6b) he will say on that final day. Wait a little longer or get involved in the harvest? GLORIOUS TIME IN THE LORD!

Thank the Lord for anothe great Sunday Morning. Communion was served after the message. Several were in the altar before communion. One new face who attended the church as a small lad was there - Jason Hollowell. He came in need of a touch from the Lord. Several gathered around and prayed as the Lord came and blessed mightily. We were blessed to help Jason with some needed temporal items as well. He requests prayer as he enters a time of rehabilitation. He said, "I have been on drugs for several years and once had to go into reahab when I was 18 but this time I am going in with the prayers and salvation of the Lord." Let us continue to pray for Jason.

Sunday evening was our monthly gospel singing. Songs of praise and worship, poems, testimonies and scripture reading came forth in worship to the Lord. The last part of a DVD by the Crabb Family was played near the end of the service. The Crabb Family along with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir blessed us by way of DVD. There were praises, shouts and tears of victory all through the service. TGBTG!

NOTICE: The Crabb Family will be in Jackson, TN Civic Center onf March 30th on their final tour before seperating into various ministries.

Ray Crossno Interment

Family and friends gathered at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens for the final resting place of Ray Crossno's body. Of course, as Christians, we have assurance through Jesus Christ that Ray is now in paradise with his other family members. Ray will be missed greatly. The Graveside Service was conducted by Ron Hamm and assisted by Milton Gordon. Ray is gone on but his memory lives on in our hearts. . . .

Digress, Regress, Confess and Progress

The Christian maturation process either digresses, regresses or progresses. The life of a Christian can be compared to a stream of water. If it flows freely and has a continual inflow source it continues as a life-giving source to the plant life and marine life in and around it. If there is no source of inflow or refill the stream becomes stagnant, full of scum and bacteria, eventually dries up and cannot sustain life. Whatever blocks the inflow or refill needs to be removed for the free flow of the stream. A Christian needs the continual flow of the life-giving water of the Holy Spirit and the Word of Christ.

The admonition to the new Christian found in 1Peter 2:2 says, “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. . .” God’s purposes for each newborn Christian is to “grow” or mature in Christ. There should be a continual growth throughout the Christian life. To move away from the things of Christ or to think one has “arrived” and there is no more growth is to digress or regress. Second Peter chapter one gives a challenge to Christians by encouraging them to add virtues to what God has already given (all things that pertain unto life and godliness) to us.

Digressing is to deviate or stray. All that is needed to grow is found in Christ, His Word and the power of the Holy Spirit. Some folks in the Galatian church were being led to digress by being taught that Christ plus certain ordinances and rites observed and practiced in the Old Testament were necessary for salvation along with believing in Christ. Paul’s cry to them is, “My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you. . . “ Gal. 4:19 They had digressed from the pure salvation that is only in Christ and were being strongly influenced by teachers who insisted that circumcision was necessary for salvation.

Regress is to go back. The writer of Hebrews challenges, “For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat” Heb. 5:12 The writer of Hebrews addresses those who were looking and going back to the ordinances, sacrifices, in brief, to the system that God ordered under the leadership of Moses. That system was ordained for that time but a new covenant had been established by Christ. The writer assured them that “Jesus [is] the author and finisher of our faith. . .”12:2 and the writer also assured them “by so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. .”(Heb. 7:22) Respect for the past movements of God and Christian heritage is commendable but becoming entangled in past methods, past customs, biblically unsound interpretations and past irrelevant, lacking systems for this day and time are not the answer for today’s ministry.

As humans we fail. We fail to devote ourselves to worship, prayer, Bible reading and study, etc. We fail to stay focused on Christ and His relevancy for today. We become like Peter who saw Christ as the Messiah in one instance and later began rebuking Him and saying, "You're not going to be crucified." We are like him in some ways when he walked out on the water. We walk steadily for a while with Christ then see and fear the raging tempest and storms of life and begin to sink. We want to stay in past comfort zones that will not work now. There are times we desire to do good and the ability to perform the good is lacking as Paul said of himself. Blaise Pascal wrote of man’s nature, “Does he exalt himself? I lay him low; does he humble himself? I exalt him, and continue to contradict him until he comprehends that he is an incomprehensible monstrosity (Pensees, Concerning True Religion no. 13). Without Christ man is hopelessly lost and without salvation. No system of man, no custom, no past tradition, no method will save anyone. Salvation comes to those whose hearts are broken over their sin, their lack of seeking God and their lack of being involved in what He is doing in their present world and confessing their need of the Savior.

We come to the need of confession. Some have suggested that approaching God could be done with the ACTS acronym (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication). This is certainly a good way. Further, Jesus taught to pray, “Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name (divine recognition and adoration), thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven (petition and submission), give us this day our daily bread (simple petition for daily needs), and forgive us our debts (confession), as we forgive our debtors (restitution), lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil (providence/sovereignty) for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever (worship) Amen.

Confession is often overlooked in our praying. There are areas of weakness, failure and sin that we do not even see that God desires for us to seek forgiveness. Moses sought God to deliver him from hidden or secret sins (Psalm. 90:8). Confession is needed to be drawn into the presence of God to pray in His will as one should. The Psalmist also was aware that if he regarded iniquity (wickedness, vanity, sin) in his heart, God would not hear him (Psalm. 66:18). The admonition from 1 John is, 1:8 “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” Some would say, "I confessed when I first got saved some time ago." The question is, “Has that person sinned or failed God in any way since that time?” The answer is obvious. The Bible says Job was a righteous man - one who feared God and shunned evil. Yet his final words to God near the end of his devil inflicted debacle were, " I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes" (Job 42:6). He did not come with any of his righteousness to God but approached the awesome, holy, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent God with repentance and self-abhorrence. Do we live a life of purposeful sinfulness so that God's grace will automatically cleanse us, no! But there is need of confession.

To progress with Christ is see how far one is from being like Christ and how utterly abhorring one is in comparison to Christ and to continue reaching toward Him who is perfect and complete in every aspect and part of that progression is confession. . .The Holy Spirit will do his work of convicting and reproving. . .confession comes from a broken, contrite spirit knowing that Christ is the only victory over any sin. . . then the grace of God flows, refills and cleanses by the Power of the Holy Spirit. . .Christ the only victory in our daily lives. . .Milton Gordon

RAY CROSSNO MEMORIAL SERVICE

Manuel, Ray's brother, did a great job of getting Ray's memorial service together. There were several songs including Daddy's Hands, The First Day In Heaven and many others that spoke of Ray's delight in hearing and singing gospel music. His granddaughter, Renee's daughter, read a very pertinent poem for her grandfather and the family. Vernon Caruthers did the obituary and also shared some. Ronnie Hamm shared some from his memories of Ray when he and Ray were still very young (8, 9, 10). I offered some memories and some of Ray's humorous moments. It was a great memorial service and Manuel said, "I believe this is just what Ray would have wanted." There was a host of family and friends there. His wife Brenda and several of her family and also Renee and Lavonne his two daughters and their family, of course, were present.

I was blessed to know Ray and count it an honor to have served in the funeral.
We sang together for several years and now he is singing with the heavenly choir. Till we meet again in that heavenly realm where the blessed Savior is. . .Bye for now. . .Love you and your family. . . .

ANOTHER GREAT SUNDAY MORING!

Thank God for His continued presence among us. We are so blessed to be serving an awesome, mighty God. It was good to the see the Davis' back today as well as some others that have been out.

NEW SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER! Sister Joyce Grace is now the Small Children's Sunday School Teacher. When we asked her, she said, "You know I've been thinking and praying about that!" Siste Joyce, we thank you and pray for you in this great ministry for the Lord. Children are so much in need of ministry and being involved in the work of the church. A big GOD BLESS YOU! To Sister Joyce.

God is doing a great work among us and we are seeing people getting involved and working for the King and His Kingdom and Church! TGBTG!

DEATH OF RAY CROSSNO - UPDATE

Karen and I received a call this morning from Kevin Crossno, Ray Crossno's nephew. Ray died last night. He had been sick the past few months and had fallen several times. A recent fall caused a cut on his leg which may have resulted in an aneurysm (I spoke to Manuel tonight and this appears to be the cause of death). Cause of death is uncertain at this time. Kevin informed us that Ray's daughter, Lavonne, was with him yesterday and she had told them that Ray seemed to be doing okay. Then he passed away during the night at a Rehab Health Center. This is a sudden death. Ray's mother Bonnie (Crossno) Curtis died just a few months back. Ray grew up in the Huntingdon area and attended the Church of God of Prophecy at Huntingdon for several years. He attended my home church at Burns, TN Church of God of Prophecy for about 5 years during the late sixties and early seventies when he worked in Nashville as a Glazier with Pittsburgh Plate Glass. We traveled together for about four years in a singing group during this time. More information will be posted later. Ray will be missed but is resting with the Lord now.

Dilday Funeral Home of Huntingdon, TN will provide services. The Memorial Service is set to be conducted at Dilday Funeral Home on Sunday, March 4, 2007 at 6:00 pm. Visitation is from 12 noon until the Memorial Service at 6 p.m. The interment is scheduled for 10 a. m., Monday, March 5th at the Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens in Nashville, TN. Reverend Milton Gordon will be officiating.

Ray was a friend of mine. We sang together in a gospel quartet (Original Triumphant Quartet not connected with the one now) from 1968-1972. We traveled middle Tennessee, and other states singing the gospel together. Ray was an exceptional baritone singer and the main catalyst for the group. We entered the Ralph Emory amateur program and was given a spot on his, then WSM TV Chanel four show in the early 70's. We had been approached about doing a recording when two members of the group went into evangelistic and pastoral ministry.

TODAY

Several hours (5-6) today, I worked on the DMin. reading and writing. I am actively involved in this work since I only have until the end of July to finish three more courses and then until the end of November to finish four more or I will have to pay for an extension.

Karen and I visited with Sister Marie Moore this evening. She is scheduled to have more testing next Thursday in regards to the bone marrow cancer diagnosis. Brother and Sister Moore always make us very welcome. The visit was great. We had a good season of prayer. Let us continue to pray for her and contact her and let her know we care.

Part of the Praise and Worship team were practicing when we got home around 8 pm. When Jason finished practicing he came over to the parsonage for a few mintes and told us bye. He is going with the Bethel Renaissance Choir to minister and sing on the Spring Tour - Mississippi and Louisana. They will be doing some benevolent work in New Orleans by helping to build a house and doing some singing in a shelter and in some other arenas. We are thankful for Jason and that he is back in full force in his Music Education/Ministry major for his Bachelor's degree. He was out last fall after going through some difficulties but has worked through the problems and doing well now.
