YESTERDAY AND TODAY

Karen and I had most of the day "off" yesterday. I did do some studying and reading and walked 2.5 miles. We rested some during the day and went out to eat as our date for the week at Pizza Hut buffet last night. I don't think that is very wise to do very often since the buffet lends too much to eat. . . . .We had a good time and enjoyed each other's company. . . .

Karen was called, after applying several weeks ago and having an interview last week, and accepted part-time work at Wal-Mart. It reminds me of when I was in my early years of pastoring and she worked there for about 3 years, when we were both in junior college together. This is difficult for her since she has taught elementary school for 10 years but has been unable to find anything within an hour's drive. She has done two leaves of absence for a few months for a couple teachers and thats it for the last 19 months. Nothing was open this year and she called every school within an hour's drive. She is a trooper and I have been encouraging her. I told her, "think about the community people you will see at Wal-Mart and how you can make contact with them." She agreed but I know this is a difficult time for her. She begins Thursday afternoon and will work 25-30 hours a week until she can find something in her field. She has applied to sub. teach and has all her process completed to sub. since last November and has not had one call. We are still trusting God.

This morning I walked and then went and filled Jason's old car up with gasoline. It is running okay again but still has a small leak in the radiator.

By invitation, we attended a seminar today (3-6 pm with meal provided) at First Bank Community Room sponsored by our automobile insurance person. He is also a Senior Financial Adviser. Karen and I are not quite to that point (seniors) in our lives but it was a very helpful seminar. It was very interesting and informative on income tax, annuities, stock market and bank investment and retirement issues. We have a free consultation with Him later in the week. Do you think Pastor's need this kind of help too? After all, we are human and have those kinds of needs. I am almost 57 and technically could "retire" in 5.5 years but I don't think so. . . .

After we left there we came home for about 30 minutes and went to another seminar. This one was dealing with utility savings. The company sells and installs the space-engineered aluminum utility shield. It has proven to cut the cost of heating and cooling from 22-47%. It is not insulation. It is a "shield" that reflects radiant heat so that it stays cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. We met several people in this meeting including the parents of one of the couples, Chad and Kim Byars, who attends our church. It was a very informative meeting and also gave us opportunity to meet others in the community. I feel grateful to be a part of these type of community meetings, social events, school events, etc. to be involved with the people in the community.

I contacted the Huntingdon Rehab. Center to set up prayer meeting for tomorrow night. The person was out but she had already told us that we could have prayer meeting there any time. I will contact her again first thing in the morning.

Michigan Court: TV Indecency the Same as Indecent Exposure

"The Wolverine State is pioneering what could be a new approach to the prosecution of indecent material on cable television.

Michigan's Supreme Court has established that the state's indecent-exposure law includes the prosecution of indecent programming on cable television.

Through this law, the Michigan attorney general can prosecute national broadcasters that put indecent material on cable TV, according to Pat Trueman, senior counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund."

FUND RAISER FOR YOUTH CAMP

We thank God for $200.00 dollars being raised for sponsoring youth in youth camp this coming summer in the Ham Breakfast/Brunch. Sister Karen and I really enjoyed cooking and serving this to raise funds for the children. We also thank the ones who donated so much to make this possible.

Sister Rita, church treasurer, told me that another $47.00 dollars came in for the youth during the service this morning. That makes almost $250.00 for youth camp this summer. We want to send as many youth as we can to Camp Hickory Hills this summer.

The camp is only 58 miles away, nestled in the rolling hills of Middle, TN. Over 230 acres of beautifully developed property, with cabins, staff house, chapel, gym, swimming pool, ball fields, and snack shack with pavillion and tables. There is a beautiful brook winding through the property and the Bears there are friendly, since Brother Terry Bear is the Camp Caretaker/Coordinator. Remember you have to feed the Bears to keep them happy.

INTERESTING SITES

Jihad Watch gives information on the activities of Muslims in the Middle East.

Here is part of their statement. You can read more on the site.

Why Jihad Watch?
"Because the West is facing a concerted effort by Islamic jihadists, the motives and goals of whom are largely ignored by the Western media, to destroy the West and bring it forcibly into the Islamic world -- and to commit violence to that end even while their overall goal remains out of reach. That effort goes under the general rubric of jihad. . . ."

Today was another great day in the Lord. It is great to see the newer people coming and being involved in the work of the Lord. We are also thankful for the faithful ones who continue to come and support the work of the Lord.

Today's message was the second in a series on stewarship entitled, "What Will You Pour Out To The Lord?" God is blessing the church as we continue to be faithful in our time, treasure and talent.

The service tonight was filled with worship and praises to the King of Kings. God blessed in an awesome way. We are so thankful for the great blessing of God on our lives and for knowing and experiencing the God of all the creation.

After the service for about an hour, I visited with Jimmy Davis, one of the newer attenders, he, his wife Virginia, daughter Carla and family, Jeff and family have attended in recent weeks. Brother Jimmy Sister Virginia and mother have come regular for the past several weeks. Brother Jimmy is asking more about the church and has been a great blessing to the ministry here. My God bless this family and help us to continue to minister to them.

PRAYER AND FASTING WEEK FOR GENERAL OVERSEER SELECTION IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY: State Overseer E. C. McKinley in a letter to Pastors writes, "I am asking each of you join us in this time (Feb. 26 - Mar. 4, 2006) of prayer and fasting. . ."

This is a time of prayer and fasting for the next General Overseer of the Church of God of Prophecy since present General Overseer, Fred Fisher, has announced his retirement.

I am asking members and attenders of the church here in Huntingdon to pray and fast during this week as well.

FUND RAISER FOR YOUTH CAMP

Sister Karen and I arose early this morning and got the ham, biscuits, coffee, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, grits, and juices ready for serving. We are thankful for $165.00 being raised to send needy youth to youth camp this summer. We are thankful to those who donated items and for those who came to enjoy the food and fellowship. One couple donated over $100.oo in food items (15 dozen fresh eggs, 15 lb sausage, 3 large bags frozen biscuits, 3 gal. juices, 1 gal. milk, jellies, and a large commercial size coffee maker). The church now has the capacity to serve dozens of people with one brewing. One person also donated a large amount when paying for their breakfast. Both want to remain anonymous but God knows who they are - He blesses all we do for Him. We have plenty left to raise more funds and plan to serve early in the morning before Sunday School. We will serve from 8:30-9:30 am. No food will be served after 9:30 am since Sunday School will start at 10 am. Sister Gordon and I will be there early in the morning to get the breakfast ready.

FRIDAY FEB. 24, 2006 - VISITS AND PRAYER REQUESTS

After walking a couple miles this morning in prayer and meditation, I took Jason to college at Bethel in McKenzie. His old car is still having cooling system problems. I visited and prayed with Sister Lennie Mae Crossno at the McKenzie Nursing Facility. I also stopped by and visited with Brother J. E. Moore and prayed for Sister Moore who is still having problems getting up from sitting or lying down. Brother Moore told her that the lift chair would be coming today. She asked for prayer that she can get her strength back to come to church again.

I received an email from Rex Worman. He had some hear tests today and tests turned out okay except for they "found a slight mytral valve prolapse which is not serious." Remember to pray for Rex and for Lori.

The Ham Breakfast/Brunch is scheduled for tomorrow from 8-10 am. Please come and help us raise funds for needy youth to go to church youthcamp this summer.

TODAY & PRAYER REQUEST

This morning started with trying to get Jason off to college. His old car developed another malady - profusive leaking of coolant under the car. We finally got Jason off and now have to find other transportation or get the old car repaired.

I visited with Rev. Chuck Burks a couple hours again today. I am visiting with him weekly to discuss ministry plans. He continues to want to know more about the Church of God of Prophecy. Brother Burks and his wife Ragene are now attending our services and now want to become members of the local church here at Huntingdon. Covenant Sunday is planned for April 9th. There are others who are asking about coming into the church. We are praying for others who will come and join in the journey - loving, worshipping and serving the Lord - to reach others with the Gospel message of Jesus Christ.

Late this afternoon, Karen and I went to Bethel College and discussed some things with Jason for a while. We are continuing to work with him as he studies in the music field. We also went by the office in McKenzie where Sister Rita Moore works and got some church business taken care of.

We went to Wal-Mart to get some needed items and saw Stanley and Judy Reynolds there. We visited with them a few minutes. It is not unusual to see church members and/or attenders in this community at Wal-Mart or the few other places here.

I read some and studied some on the DMin. material later this afternoon and night. Karen is crocheting pillow cases and finishing them for different ones who have asked for her to make them something. She is more patient than I am doing something like that.

Karen and I both have interviews tomorrow. Much of my pastoral ministry has been BI-Vocational. We know God supplies and sometimes it is through opening doors for getting part-time and/or full-time secular employment. Your prayers are requested as we continue to seek the Lord in this. May His will be done and may He be glorified in our lives - I pray.

DISCUSSION ON MEASURING CHURCH GROWTH

The following is part of a discussion on measuring church growth. . .

Fong: I teach it this way: there are two parts of the Good News. First, everyone's a rat. There are no squirrels. I told my congregation, "Some of you think you're just a cute little squirrel sinner. Who hates a squirrel?" I said, "Have I got news for you. Everyone's a rat. God doesn't see any squirrels."

When I said this at the drug rehab place—"How many feel like a rat?"—everybody raised their hands right away. At seminary chapel, it was like, hmmm, some of the professors weren't sure. I said, "Some of you are raising your hands because you know I'm theologically correct, but you don't feel like a rat." I said, "Until you know that you're a rat, it's not good news to find out you're not the only rat in the room."

I said, "Some of us are rats because we're not convinced we're rats. We look around and think that someone else is a bigger rat, that someone else needs the cross more than I do.
"Only when you know you're a rat are you ready for the second part: God is not an exterminator."

PRAYER

These are unable to attend church on a regular basis or at all. Unable to attend at all are Lennie Mae Crossno and Bonnie (Curtis) Crossno. Those able to attend seldom are Lilly Grooms, Jennie Sanders and Mildred Stacy. These need our prayers and care. Pray for them, visit or call them.

PRAYER

Please pray for Donna Crossno. She is not feeling well in body today.

PRAYER AND SCRIPTURES

Heavenly Father, thank You for another time to come to You through Your Son Jesus. I pray for all men everywhere to come to the knowlege and experience of your salvation. I pray today for the leaders in the nations of this world. I ask for wisdom for President Bush and all of his staff. I pray for leaders throughout this world in nations, states, countries, cities and local areas. I pray for leaders in the church - International Leaders, state leaders, country and area leaders and local leaders. Thank you for these leaders. I ask that You undergird them with more grace. I ask for more widsom for leaders in nations, countries, states and local areas - for law enforcement, for government leaders and for church leaders. The Apostle Paul encourged prayer for all men and for all that are in authority. His words tell us in 1 Timothy 2:1-4 "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."

I ask for greater stability in servant leadership thinking and for clearer directives in our daily tasks. Make us strong in our spirits and in our minds. Help our minds to be more and more like the mind of Christ. When pressures of work and ministry seem more than possible to bear, help us to lean on You - that moment and know that in our weakness You are still strong. Keep me free from the "superhuman" syndrome but instill in me the knowledge and wisdom to know that Your grace is sufficient for all ministry. Forgive me of the failures, faults, hidden sins and weights in my life that need to be confessed, forsaken and lain down at the foot of the Cross.
I ask these favors in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. AMEN!

UPDATE

It has been a couple days since I posted. Yesterday (2/20), was a day to relax, mostly, for Karen and I. I did do some reading in the doctoral studies.

Today Karen and I traveled to an interview that she had scheduled for a school teaching position. Karen has applied in many places since we have been in this rural area but has not secured a position teaching school within an hours drive. God knows our needs and He will supply - in more ways than we can ever imagine. We are seeking His direction.

The Ham Breakfast/Brunch has been rescheduled for this coming Saturday morning (02/26) from 8:00 - 10:00 am. We want to raise funds to help needy children go to church youth camp this summer. There are already several families talking about sending their children.

SUNDAY SERVICES & WINTER WEATHER

The winter weather has hit in this area. Temperatures were in the low double and high single digits early this morning. Icy, windy, cold weather is keeping most people inside most of the time - which is wise.

Sunday morning service went well but the attendance was down to about half of regular attendance. It is difficult for seniors, children and disabled congregants to get out in this weather.

We are thankful for those who braved the weather and came to the service. God blessed as we worshipped and exalted the Creator. We are so thankful for his blessings and all that He is!

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM STATE OVERSEER

Dear Friend,

I just got off the telephone with Clayton Mahan, the presbyter for WestTennessee. He told me that the great West Tennessee area is expecting sleet and freezing rain tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night. On top of the weather system that created hazardous driving conditions early this morning, wisdom dictates that we RESCHEDULE the meeting for tomorrow night at the Paris, Tennessee church. I will send out a notice with the rescheduled date on Monday. Please help me pass this word on to anyone you think might be affected by this scheduling change. Thanks for your help and may God bless.

E.C. McKinley
Tennessee State Overseer

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2006

For the past four Sundays a series of messages have been preached on "Walking In the Spirit - Pressing Into The Kingdom of God, focusing on the fruit of the Spirit. This series will be continued with the last three fruit of the Spirit - faith, meekness and temperance - after a series on stewardship.

For the next two or three Sundays messages will be preached on Stewardship - Time, Talent and Treasure. God has given each of us 24 hours in a day. Each one has talent (gifts, skills, abilities) that God has given for each one to use for His glory. Each one has a certain amount of treasure (money, finance) that God has given to use for His glory. Our stewardship of time, talent and treasure is vital to our relationship and maturation in Jesus Christ. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost. The gifts, talents, abilities and skills are a gift from God. Our finance belongs to God - all of it - to use wisely as He would have us use it. These areas are vital in our worship of the Almighty God. God does not want lip service. God does not want half-heartedness. God does not want lukewarmness. God wants our love with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. He wants the zeal, knowledge and wisdom that the Holy Spirit and Word of God teaches in these areas. Each one is responsible and accountable to God for their stewardship in time, talent and treasure. May the Lord help us as we endeavor to minister in these messages.

WINTER STORM WARNING - HAM BREAKFAST/BRUNCH

There is a winter storm warning for West TN. The forecast includes the possibility of 2-4 inches of sleet and/or snow and/or icy conditions for late tonight and early Sat. morning. If this happens this means that most people will stay in and not be on the roads - which is very wise.

Should there be inclement weather, the Breakfast/Brunch will be rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 25 from 8-10 am. If the forecast is accurate the Breakfast/Brunch will be rescheduled.

Sunday Services will be conducted as usual. Cancellation will depend on the road conditions. Telephone calls will be made to confirm canellation of services.

NOTE: Sunday evenings service is at Paris at 6 pm with State Overseer, E. C. McKinley unless there are inclement weather conditions. Notice will be given if cancelled.

TODAY & PRAYER REQUESTS

This morning I had to take care of some personal business. Karen and I continued to make calls about the Breakfast/Brunch planned for raising funds to help needy youth go to youth camp.

One of Jason's friends came to visit for a few days. His name is Adam Boothe. Another one of Jason's friend's grandmother died. This was a sudden death from gastric by-pass surgery. We are saddened that CJ's grandmother has passed on. Jason has been doing work-study now in college and works the late shift for the Security Dept. at Bethel College. Karen and I do not rest well until he gets home and it is usually 1-2 am before he arrives depending on how late he has to work. He may be almost 22 but he is still our little son - we are trying to be less fretful about his being out late.

Karen and I went out of town this afternoon. This was the first day we took off to do anything together since the 6th. We usually take a half day a week to do something together. We traveled some and shopped for groceries and other needed items.

Its just about time for Karen and I to get a way for more than a half-day. We are praying about a time and place. Every healthy marriage needs two-four days away, alone, every few months, with only the spouses to be together and enjoy each other.

God bless you. . .until next time. . .

SCRIPTURE AND PRAYER

Thank you Heavenly Father for another day to worship and serve You. Thank You for caring so much for me that You gave Your only begotten Son to die for me. Thank You for being there with me at all times. Thank You for the salvation that You have given to me. Thank You for creating all things and for giving life to all living things - animals, angels, humans. The Psalmist wrote, "What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?" 8:4 When I think of all the great creation and all the awesomeness of the creation, I cry out with the Psalmist, "What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?" Yet I know You have created man and "crowned him with glory and honor." And when I think of how great Your plan of salvation is, I cry GREAT, AWSOME, HOLY, RIGHEOUS! The writer of Hebrews resounded this in Hebrews 2:6 when he wrote "But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?" O how great is your salvation plan. Thank you Heavenly Father - "But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings."

How GREAT is our God and GREATLY to be Praised! He came to me in a small town in middle Tennessee and imparted to me His great salvation. The Creator of all things, universes unseen by man, worlds without end, the earth and all that is in it, the sun, the moon, the stars and named everyone of them. HOW GREAT THOU ART! Heavenly Father help me never to take Your salvation for granted and help me share the message of salvation through Jesus Christ with others. AMEN!

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2006

This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. This morning I walked for over an hour meditating and praying. There is much to pray about and the Holy Spirit leads us in praying and helps us with prayers that we do not even understand. O how we need the precious Holy Spirit to lead, guide, teach, comfort, and show us the things of Christ. Thank you, Heavenly Father, for giving your Son. . . .

Jesus, Jesus, How I trust Him
How I've Proved Him O'er and O'er
Jesus, Jesus, Precious Jesus
O for grace to trust Him More. . . . .

Rex and Lori Worman called this morning asking how they could help in the upcoming Ham Breakfast/Brunch for the youth fund to help needy youth attend youth camp. They were so kind to donate fresh eggs, orange juice, frozen bicuits, coffee and a jar of honey. We are so thankful for people who are involved in the work of the church. We are blessed to have people who are willing to spend and be spent for the Lord. The Wormans are a blessing to the church here. Rex and Lori have been attending now for about 4 months and we are glad they are here. WE WELCOME THE WORMANS TO OUR LOCAL CHURCH FAMILY!

I met with Reverand Chuck Burks today. I continued to share some of our church web sites and other pertinent information about the Church of God of Prophecy. Also, we continued to discuss his ministry here at the church. He and his wife desire to minister in the local church here. Dr. Burks has written books on marriage, spiritual disciplines and being a pastor. He has volunteered to minister here for as long as the Lord will allow him to continue in ministry here in this area. He is open to the Lord's call to move to another church to pastor or assist as the door is open. For now, he and his wife have become a part of our local assembly and we are thankful for this couple who so willingly give of themselves in ministry. AGAIN, WE WELCOME REVERAND CHUCK BURKS AND WIFE RAGENE TO OUR CHURCH FAMILY. He is planning to attend the District Pentecostal Power Meeting this Sunday evening at the Paris church. I plan to introduce Dr. Burks to State Overseer, Dr. E. C. McKinley. Dr. Burks has a web site. Go here New Life Christian Ministries

God is blessing here at Huntingdon and we are so thankful for His presence, power and providence. To Him be glory for ever and for ever and for ever. AMEN!

WEDNESDAY FEB. 15, 2005

Today has been another great day in the Lord. It is 12:30 am Thursday morning as I type this. Today we continued plans for the upcoming Ham Breakfast scheduled for this coming Saturday to help needy youth attend youth camp this summer. Karen called several about the breakfast and encouraged them to participate and come eat with us. We also reminded them of the prayer meeting for tonight.

Siste Jennie Sanders called and informed me that the place for the prayer meeting is heated and she will have the thermostat adjusted. We visited the Moores at the Medical Clinic in McKenzie around 12-1 p. and encouraged the Moore family and encourged Travis. He has a concussion and has to take it slow and easy for several weeks. We saw Debbie Eaton and Dee Walker who both work there - Debbie and Ronnie now attend the Jackson Church. Dee has not been to church in a while and we spoke to her, she was very friendly but has not been to church in a while. We got back home around 1:15 and Karen and I ate lunch and rested a while. Brother J. E. Moore called at about 2 p. and asked for continued prayer for Sister Moore who fell a couple weeks ago and cannot get around very well. Brother Moore wants to get back to church but has to stay with her until she gets her electric chair and can get up on her own. We did some more calling and continue to pray for Travis.

From 3-5:30 p I studied and meditated for the prayer meeting tonight. We left around 6:15 p to get any chairs set up and to give sister Jennie some requested items. The prayer meeting was great from 6:45-8 p. We fellowshipped a while after church. I have been studying on the doctorate and for Sunday messages in between all the other.

God bless and may you rest in him. . .til next time. . . .

GREAT PRAYER MEETING & PRAYER REQUEST

The prayer meeting was great! We met at the R. B. Wilson Apartments (old R. B. Wilson Clinic) entrance room. There was plenty of room as we gathered to pray and sing praises to the King of Kings. There were new visitors in our prayer meeting. We welcomed, Pauline Belew, Rita Trimpani, John Baker, and Teresa McConnel to our meeting. Sister Jennie Sanders was there as well. She lives there. She is one of the oldest Senior Members of the church. Thank God for this opportunity to reach out.

Rita Trimpani is a hurricane Katrina survivor and displaced person. We prayed with her and offered our friendship and comfort as tears flowed down her face. She told of loosing all they have in just one thrust of a 30 foot tide that brought on an 8-12 foot wall of surging water. She told of how they barely escaped and how cars would be floating down the street. We prayed with her and encouraged her but know that each one of us here could not really understand. She wants our continued prayers and support.

Since our beginnings in having prayer meetings in homes and public places - our attendance has increased over 50% for which we are thankfu. We have ministered to a total of 13 new people since we began these prayer meetings. We are thankful to be able to get out in the public and in homes to minister the gospel to those who cannot attend and to those that we may have opportunity to meet.

Each person present shared prayer requests and prayed together. Thank God for being with us and for the closeness of the Holy Spirit in our prayer meeting. To HIM BE GLORY!

PRAYER REQUEST

Travis Moore had a 4-wheeler accident in the race in Texas (Travis races in National Races as a semi-pro) and is having tests at McKenzie Medical Center. He had a concussion in the wreck he was involved in in the Texas races. He is having fainting spells and is nauseated. He is the son of James and Rita Moore.

PRAYER MEETING TONIGHT AT R. B. WILSON APT. BUILDING

The mid-week prayer meeting is scheduled to be a the R. B. Wilson Apt. Building. It is the old R. B. Wilson clinic and is now an apt. building for singles or couples. The prayer meeting will be in the upper level entrance area where there is a sofa and some chairs. I obtained permission to have the prayer meeting there and was encouraged to invite any who lived there to come. Sister Jennie Sanders, long-time member of the church, lives there and is very happy that we are coming for prayer meeting. The meeting will start at approximately 6:45 pm. We anticipate a great time in the Lord and believe this is one of the ways that God is using the church to reach out. This is the 3rd prayer meeting in a public building. We have had two home prayer meetings also. We are praying that God will open doors for us to share the love of Jesus with all those that we possibly can. May God be glorified in these meetings is our prayer.

VALENTINES DAY

I took Karen to eat at the Catfish House in McKenzie, TN. Juday and Stanley Reynolds were there, to our surprise, and we sat at the table next to them. We had a good time of fellowship and laughter. The tables were set with Valentines Decor - red and white with a beautiful candle in the middle.

Jason was there with us. He got out of choir practice early. He has been enjoying the the music studies at Bethel College. The group traveled to Lebanon, TN this past weekend and sang there at a CP church. My oldest daughter, Danita, and her husband live there and attended. They said they enjoyed very much the choir musical.

We enjoyed Valentines day in a not too traditional way (I gave Karen a little heart with a bear in it, she collects bears).

7 Questions Skeptics Ask, By Rusty Wright

How we can ‘be prepared to give an answer.’

As the flight from Chicago to Dallas climbed in the sky, I became engrossed in conversation with the passenger to my left. "Aimee," a French businesswoman, asked me about my work. On learning I was a Christian communicator, she related that a professing Christian had signed a contract with her, attempted to lead her to Christ, then later deceitfully undercut her. "How could a Christian do such a thing?" she asked.

I told her that Christians weren’t perfect, that some fail miserably, that many are honest and caring, but that it is Jesus we ultimately trust. Aimee asked question on question: "How can you believe the Bible?" "Why do Christians say there is only one way to God?" "How does one become a Christian?"

I tried to answer her concerns tactfully and explained the message of grace as clearly as I could. Stories I told of personal pain seemed to open her up to consider God’s love for her. She did not come to Christ in that en-counter, but she seemed to leave it with a new understanding.

Internet Evangelism Day - May 7, 2006

What is Internet Evangelism Day?

In New Testament times, the Roman Road system was strategic in God’s plan. It enabled the spread of the Gospel throughout the then-known world. In the same way, the Internet today is a worldwide network which can facilitate effective Gospel communication.

Ohio Governor Bob Taft Proclaims February 14, 2005, as the Day of Purity

ORLANDO, FL - As a result of the hard work and dedication of Ally Hall, a 14-year-old student in Lebanon, Ohio, Governor Taft has signed a proclamation declaring February 14, 2005, the Day of Purity throughout the state. He encourages youth to "show their support for abstinence and promote healthy and happy lifestyles." His message echoes that of youth around the world who have thanked Liberty Counsel for organizing the Day of Purity. Youth are tired of hearing the message that it's unrealistic to expect them to abstain. The Day of Purity is designed to offer youth of all ages, including those at the elementary and college levels as well as young adults, the opportunity to send a loud message that they can and will delay sexual activity until marriage.

HOLY SPIRIT MANIFESTATION AT KY ASBURY COLLEGE

A sense of revival erupted this week on a college campus in Kentucky. It could be the sign of a spiritual tsunami headed our way. Students at Asbury College in Kentucky arrived for their usual 10 a.m. chapel on Monday of this week. Some of them are still there today.

Students are worshiping, weeping and praying. Many of them took off their shoes in Hughes Auditorium because they felt they were standing on holy ground. A photo on the nondenominational Christian college’s Web site shows students with their hands raised in praise as they crowd near the chapel’s altar.

“God’s will just broke out,” said one student, Michael Spann. “People were just yearning for God. I can’t even describe it. I didn’t want to leave until I felt the Lord was in me the way He wanted to be.”“There’s nothing else you can do when you meet your Creator face to face like we did yesterday,” sophomore Ben Greenhoe said on Tuesday.

The president of Asbury, Paul Rader, stayed in the auditorium watching the scene until midnight Monday. Folks in the small town of Wilmore, where Asbury is located, heard about the protracted meeting and wandered in. A local grocer sent water and snacks to the campus after hearing that the prayer service was going nonstop.

Wednesday night there were several hundred students praying in the chapel. Some stayed until 4 a.m.On Thursday Rader led the morning chapel and felt what he called “an awesome sense of expectation.” He said: “From the first praise chorus students began coming to the long altar at the front of the auditorium. Soon the altar was crowded with students again. There was incredible freedom in the Spirit as we sang and prayed and shared testimonies of God’s gracious work in the hearts of students.”

This is not the first time Hughes Auditorium has been the site of a revival outbreak. On Feb. 3, 1970, the Holy Spirit invaded a chapel service that was supposed to last 50 minutes. It lasted 185 hours, running 24 hours a day, and then continued intermittently for weeks. It eventually spread throughout the United States and to several foreign countries.

Asbury is an interdenominational Christian college with Wesleyan roots. The 1970 revival broke out when the school’s academic dean, Custer Reynolds, gave his testimony and then asked students to share theirs. After several students spoke, Reynolds said something “broke.” “Then [students] started pouring to the altar,” Reynolds told the Lexington Herald Leader. The newspaper noted: “

Asbury, like many evangelical organizations, held annual, scheduled ‘revivals’ with guest ministers and services booked in advance. This, however, was not the same. No one had planned it. No one was leading it.”

Asbury’s president at that time, Dennis Kinlaw, was later asked by a reporter to explain what happened at Asbury. Kinlaw struggled to find the words to describe something that seemed holy and otherworldly.Said Kinlaw: “Well, you may not understand this, but the only way I know how to account for this is that last Tuesday morning, about 20 of 11, the Lord Jesus walked into Hughes Auditorium, and He's been there ever since, and you've got the whole community paying tribute to His presence.”

History books now say that the 1970 Asbury Revival spread to 130 colleges, seminaries and Bible schools. Students from the school fanned out and shared their testimonies in churches and schools all across the nation, and their fervor spread like some kind of heavenly virus.A 1970 book about the revival, One Divine Moment, by Asbury history professor Jeff Blake, described the event as a modern, Pentecost. Other historians have noted that it occurred at the same time a neo-Pentecostal movement was breathing new life into American churches during the Jesus movement.

SUNDAY FEB. 12, 2006

Today was another glorious day in the Lord. Some were out because of the inclement weather. Others were traveling but for those of us who were there, we experienced the glorious presence of the Lord. The series on "Walking In the Spirit - Pressing Into The Kingdom of God" was continued today with the fruit of the Spirit - goodness as the emphasis. We were challenged to have more than a form and to let the goodness of Jesus Christ flow out from us to others in our day to day lives.

Reverand Chuck Burks and wife Ragene were introduced today as ministers who are now a part of the local church at Huntingdon. I am working with Brother Chuck as we discuss plans for his ministry in discipleship and music here at the church. Thank God for sending workers in the harvest. When we pray for laborers, we can be sure that God will answer.

A covenant Sunday is planned in the next several weeks. Those who have covenanted with the church will be asked to renew their covenant of membership and those who desire to covenant as new members will be given the open door to fellowship and ministry in the local body.

Karen and I visited some this afternoon before church time. We visited and prayed with Brother Leon and Siste Susie Reynolds who are sick. We went to visit the Jeff Davis family but no one was at home. We left a card and a note. We visited with Josh and Carla Lawton. I met Josh but Carla was getting ready to leave for work. We invited Josh and famil to our services.

It is a glorious day to be alive and laboring the vineyard of the Lord. God bless . . . .

AZUZA STREET CENTENNIEL

Largest One –Day Benevolence Outreach in US History Planned for April 29, 2006

Excitement and energy continue to build as we enter the final month before the Azusa Street Centennial. One dramatic development that is unfolding in preparation for the Centennial is a plan for the largest one day benevolence outreach ever. REACH LA will be a cooperative effort to impact Los Angeles significantly for Christ on Saturday morning, April 29, 2006. Thirty outreach locations across Los Angeles are planned where people will receive food and hygiene assistance. Feed The Children, led by Larry Jones and the Dream Center in Los Angeles, led by Tommy and Matthew Barnett, are joining to lead this outreach. A host of supporting ministries will also assist in this powerful morning of blessings. Operation Compassion in Cleveland is serving to help coordinate this effort along with the Centennial office. They are also planning to assist in feeding those who attend the Centennial Assembly and International Youth Convocation from the outreach sites. Further information on the Azusa Street Centennial can be found at http://www.azusastreet.com/.

Los Angeles 1906 ~ A New Pentecost

Los Angeles, California, was a popular destination at the turn of the twentieth century for many Americans dreaming of greater opportunities and purpose. By 1906 this city was quickly becoming a major hub of activity. In April of that year two events focused the world’s attention on Los Angeles: The city was impacted by an earthquake that also devastated San Francisco, and services conducted in a small holiness mission on Azusa Street birthed spiritual renewal globally. Thousands of individuals converged on the city to attend the revival at Azusa Street’s mission, where they found a renewed purpose and passion in serving Jesus Christ and were commissioned to share the message of His love and power with others. Almost a century later, the activities of the renowned Azusa Street outpouring in Los Angeles are hailed as one of the greatest events in Christian history. Today, Pentecostal and Charismatic believers throughout the world reflect on the significance of Azusa Street in their spiritual heritage and development.

SURPRISE VISIT

Karen and I had a surprise visit from Don and Cathy. They stopped by and visited. We enjoyed the fellowship and had a good time of sharing together.

HEALTH WATCH - AMAZING BANANA

Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!!

This is interesting. After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again.

Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.

Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.
But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit.

It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression : According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure : This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation : High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness : Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito bites : Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.

Overweight and at work ? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels
steady.

Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature control : Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand, for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.

Smoking & Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress : Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Strokes: According to research in "The New England Journal of Medicine, "eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!

Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that
we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

PASS IT ON TO YOUR FRIENDS

PS: Bananas must be the reason monkeys are so happy all the time! I will add one here; want a quick shine on Your shoes?? Take the INSIDE of the banana skin, and rub directly on the shoe...polish with dry cloth. Amazing fruit. . .

WINTER WONDERLAND

Yesterday around 3-4 pm snow began falling. This is rare in this part of the state, so it is a treat to those who live here (not to everyone of course). There was 3-5 inches depending on where measured. Much of it melted during the night. Job 38:22 says, "Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow?" What an awesome thought. The pictures speak for themselves

What's up Gabriel the Golden Retriever?

AMAZING PICTURE - AWESOME STATEMENT BY DOCTOR

A picture began circulating in November. It should be "The Picture of the Year," or perhaps, "Picture of the Decade." It won't be. In fact, unless you obtained a copy of the US paper which published it, you probably would never have seen it. The picture is that of a 21-week-old unborn baby named Samuel Alexander Armas, who is being operated on by surgeon named Joseph Bruner.

The baby was diagnosed with spina bifida and would not survive if removed from his mother's womb. Little Samuel's mother, Julie Armas, is an obstetrics nurse in Atlanta. She knew of Dr. Bruner's remarkable surgical procedure. Practicing at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, he performs these special operations while the baby is still in the womb. During the procedure, the doctor removes the uterus via C-section and makes a small incision to operate on the baby.

As Dr. Bruner completed the surgery on Samuel, the little guy reached his tiny, but fully developed hand through the incision and firmly grasped the surgeon's finger. Dr. Bruner was reported as saying that when his finger was grasped, it was the most emotional moment of his life, and that for an instant during the procedure he was just frozen, totally immobile. The photograph captures this amazing event with perfect clarity. The editors titled the picture, "Hand of Hope." The text explaining the picture begins, "The tiny hand of 21-week-old fetus Samuel Alexander Armas emerges from the mother's uterus to grasp the finger of Dr. Joseph Bruner as if thanking the doctor for the gift of life."

Little Samuel's mother said they "wept for days" when they saw the picture. She said, "The photo reminds us pregnancy isn't about disability or an illness, it's about a little person." Samuel was born in perfect health, the operation 100 percent successful. Now you can see the actual picture, and it is awesome... incredible.... and hey, pass it on. The world needs to see this one!

Don't tell me that my God isn't an awesome God !

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 10, 2006: WELCOME REVERAND AND MRS. CHUCK BURKS

This was a great day in the Lord. Karen and I did some calling and checking on some of the members. Sister Marie Moore continues to need prayer. Sister Jennie Sanders desires healing in her legs from edema. Brother Lonnie Bush is back home from surgery on his big toe area for skin grafting. The morning seemed to fly by.

At 10:30 I met with Reverand Chuck Burks. He and I had a great time of fellowship and visitation. He has pastored and assisted in ministries in several churches. He shared his background as a lad in the Pentecostal and Apostolic faiths that he grew up in. We visited and discussed ministry for about 3 hours. He stated that he and his wife want to make Huntingdon COGOP their local church home for the time. I welcomed him and his ministry. He feels a supporting role in discipleship ministry and assisting pastors. He also has a degree in music and can play several instruments. Welcome Reverand and Mrs. Chuck Burks to our local church. May the Lord help us to minister to these folks and share the grace that God has poured in our lives and may we receive their ministry as they minister in the love and faith of Christ. Reverand Burks is very open and wants to learn more about our organization.

Snow began falling here at about 3-4 pm this evening and we had up to 5 inches in spots here. Karen and I enjoyed getting out and having a little snow ball "fight." I think we missed every time but once. It was so chili that we didn't last but a short while. More (pictures, etc.) on the snow tomorrow.

Have a blessed night in the Lord.

SCRIPTURE & PRAYER

Psalm 55

Heavenly Father, I come to You today with great desire for Your covering over my life from the enemy. Thank You for the Promise of the Holy Spirit and His empowerment in my life. Keep me in Your love and protection. When the enemy would steal, kill and destroy - hide me in the shelter of Your wings. Because of the troublesome time I sometimes feel like flying away and being somewhere alone with You. As the Psalmist David prayed, 55:6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.7 Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.8 I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest. I ask for more of Your peace that I may show Your peace to others. Thank You for the peace that the Prince of Peace gives. When I see the unrest and violence in the world, my eyes looks to you, my heart races within me and my spirit crys out and looks to You, for I know You are still in control. I ask that my home be a continued place of Your peace, safety and protection. Deliver Your children who are under attack from wicked and unreasonable persons. Thank you for the promise that if I "22 "Cast [my] burden upon the LORD, . . .he shall sustain [me]: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.

PRAYER LANGUAGE & SOUTHERN BAPTISTS: Wade Burleson: Open Letter to SBC

An Open Letter to My Beloved SBC,

The work of the Southern Baptist Convention through the International Mission Board takes my breath away. Some of the finest, godliest men and women I have ever met are right now serving us as SBC missionaries and are taking the gospel of Jesus Christ to people groups around the world.

I wish everyone could hear the reports I hear as a trustee of our IMB. Anytime you get an opportunity, attend an appointment service in your area. It will forever change your perspective about missions.

Having voiced my support of the IMB staff, missionaries, and the ever expanding mission work of the SBC, I wish to voice a deep concern about the direction some of the trustees of the IMB seem to be moving. Not all trustees, but many in key positions of leadership.

In essence, I am deeply saddened by the actions of the board regarding the new baptism and tongues policies.

Though I am a new trustee to the IMB, I fought hard over the past six months to stop the new polices from going into effect.

In essence, the new polices state that if you ever used a "prayer language" in your Christian life you are not qualified to serve on the mission field as a Southern Baptist. The former IMB policy , under which the IMB operated for decades, stated that a person who "advocated" or "practiced" tongues publicly on the mission field would be fired, but in the past, the IMB refused to concern itself with what a missionary did in the privacy of his prayer closet."

Sense & Sensitivity: Why It’s Time to Abandon the Seeker-Sensitive Model

To its credit the seeker movement has made church leaders everywhere more sensitive to the presence of non-Christians in our congregations. But, as the epoch of the seeker-church continues to wane, what enduring lessons will we carry with us into the future? Curt Coffield, a worship leader at Shoreline Community Church in Monterey, California, and former worship leader at Willow Creek, notes that newcomers have changed. “People aren’t coming as much to be convinced of the relevance of Christianity as they are coming with a hunger for God.”As the church moves further away from familiar cultural paradigms, the paradigms that gave rise to seeker-churches, we need to seriously rethink the assumptions behind “seeker-sensitive” ministry.

MINISTRY TO CHILDREN AT DAVIS'S DAYCARE

Sister Karen ministered at the Davis's Daycare today. She illustrated and told the story of Noah, the ark and the flood. This was our first time to visit and minister at the daycare. We hope this will be an ongoing ministry where the lives of children and their parents will be touched by the Holy Spirit. Thanks to Sister Virginia Davis for allowing us to come to the daycare to minister. The daycare is just four houses up the street from the church.

The children listen to the Bible Story of Noah and the ark.

Sister Davis and and two of the children. Brother and Sister Davis presently have 33 children in their daycare.

The Davis Daycare is privately owned and state approved.

SUNDAY FEB. 5, 2005 & AFTER CHURCH FELLOWSHIP

Thank God for another great Sunday. The presence of the Lord was awesome in each Service. People were rejoicing and worshipping as the presence of the Lord manifested in the am service. Several were in the altar as the Lori and Paul Rivera sang the song, "Jesus Has His Hand On Me." Jimmy and Virgina Davis's daughter Carla came to the altar with tears flowing. God blessed mightily as the spirit flowed. Others were in the altar seeking God. The message, #3 in a series on Walking In the Spirit, Pressing Into the Kingdom emphasizing the fruit of the Spirit, gentleness challenged us all to seek for the gentleness of God. David said thats what made him great - the gentleness of God.

The evening service was also charged with the presence of God as we sang hyms of praise and worship choruses. The presence of God flowed as people came to the altar to be prayed for with hands uplifted and tears flowing in worship. We are so thankful for the presence of the Dove in our services.

After the morning service, Karen and I went to lunch with Reverand and Mrs. Chuck Burks and Kathy Boone and her little grandson, Tristen. Rev. Burks is between pastorates and has pastored or assisted in independent churches ranging from 50-500. Welcome to the Church of God of Prophecy, Reverand and Mrs. Burks.

SCRIPTURES AND PRAYER

1 Cor. 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

Heb. 5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

Heavenly Father, hallowed be thy name. I worship You this morning with all that is within me. Let the Holy Spirit guide me and teach me more of Jesus. Make me more mature in Him. Let me have the characteristics of a little child when it comes to trusting and depending on You, but let me become more mature and complete in Jesus when it comes to the wisdom and knowledge of Christ. Forgive my times of whining, grumbling and complaining. I see too much of that in my life. Help me to be strong in the Lord and the power of His might. Open my understanding to deeper things of spirituality in Christ. Guide me forward in the steps of Your son. Help me to minister to the weak and to the strong and help me discern when the enemy is trying divide and cause schism in the body. Use me as a vessel of your peace and power. Please open doors and help me to step in them when it comes to witnessing to the Lost. Guide me and lead me on to greater and greater maturity in Jesus. Help me to have the characteristics of the Lion and the Lamb like Your Son. In the wonderful, holy, mighty, glorious, all powerful name of Jesus. .Amen!

YESTERDAY EVENING AND TODAY

Karen and I went to visit with family out of town yesterday evening and today. We had a good trip. We purposed to visit our family members (daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren) once every month or so. It takes a day or so but we believe that family is very important. Sarah, Chris and little Aviana were doing well. We enjoyed being with them.

Karen and I also visited some friends (Sherrills and Longs) while we were there. We went with the Longs to their daughter's (Danielle) school carnival and visited with them. We also visited Mr. Sherrill who is continuing to have medical treatment for cancer. Sister Sherrill was at a benefit singing at Sarah's and Chris's church and she asked us to come visit them. We had a good visit and time of prayer.

"In prayer, we're reminded we're never alone in our personal trials or individual suffering. In prayer, we offer our thanksgiving and praise, recognizing our lives, our talents and all that we own ultimately flow from the Creator. And in these moments of our deepest gratitude, the Almighty reminds us that, for those to whom much has been given, much is required."

— President George W. Bush at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., February 2, 2006.

TODAY'S PRAYER - BORROWED FROM PASTOR DON BROCK

Today's prayer is borrowed from Pastor Don Brock of The Harvest Center in Collinsville Alabama.

O Lord, I lift up my eyes to the heavens...for the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but the salvation You have given me shall be forever, and Your righteousness shall not be abolished. I will not fear the reproach of men, nor be afraid of them...for Your righteousness shall be forever, and Your salvation from generation to generation. Lord, You are the one who dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; that made the depths of the sea a way for the ransomed to pass over. Thank You, Lord, that I am one of the redeemed. I shall come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon my head. I shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away. I praise You, Lord God Almighty, everlasting Father, for Your joy and Your hand of protection. In Jesus' name, amen.

Bishop Sherman Allen
Dear Sir

Ref. THE HEALTHY CENTER COMPLEX SURVIVES FIRE

"This is to inform you that our Healthy Center Complex survived from being burnt completely but the front par of it got burnt. The fire was caused by the insane man who have been sleeping
in during the night with out our knowledge since it is closed. He collected some old tires from the town and went and burned them inside the complex. When the tires caught fire, the flames of the burning tires went high and caught the timbers that were used on the roof and therefore causing the fire to spread. This was during the night at 3 am. The chance that made the building to survive was the Patrol Police that saw the smoke and went see what was happening and they called the Fire brigade who came in and fought the fire until it was put off. God used the police to have our complex survive otherwise it would have been a great lose of money and investment. Please pray for us because now the authorities are on my neck because I had never known that our complex has been a threat to the security in our city and the police states that they have arested thieves hiding in the same complex three times. I have been summoned by the Mayor of our City and I will be going to meet him on Friday this week. Please pray for the hand of God to be with me and to help me with what to answer them. Pray that we do not loose our complex to the City council because our duration for finishing the Complex Expired. Thank you for your prayer, I will inform you the outcome of our meeting with the City Mayor and his committee."

Yours in His Service

Ntezimana James
National Overseer Uganda/Sudan

TODAY'S THOUGHT AND PRAYER - BUSY

No one will deny that we live in a fast paced society. Communication is at an all time high with telephones, cell phones, ham radios, CB radios, Internet email, Internet Instant Messenger, Faxing, television, and radio. Cars drive faster than ever. Planes fly faster than ever. Busy, busy, busy seems to be the by-word of people today. Some will say they remember the olden days when life was more calm and less fast-paced. They talk about wanting to be in those days again. In reality those days are gone. The past 100-150 years has brought about the greatest changes in the world of science, technology and industry. The past 50 years has brought even more fast-paced changes. Busy, busy, busy is still the word today.

These times bring on changes in the church-world as well. This means that the church needs to move forward in ministry to reach the world we are in. While we here at Huntingdon Church of God of Prophecy are seeking God through intensive prayer and outreach, there must be consideration for how these prayers are going to move us into ministry in our area. Local church ministry is the watch-word of the hour. Each disciple of the Lord must find their place in the giftedness that God has placed upon them. As pastor, I am seeking to help equip those who recognize their giftedness and desire to move forward in that ministry. There are local ministries in teaching, leading worship, ministry to children, ministry to youth, ministry in care groups, men's ministry, family ministry, women's ministry, communication's ministry, etc. The Lord may place a ministry on someone's heart that is not specifically mentioned here. The church is open to God-given ministry of any type. In seeking to labor in our giftedness, scriptures come to mind. These may not be the typical scriptures that are used in dealing with giftedness. These scriptures speak of our daily walk with the Lord.

Jesus came to do His Father's business - "wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business" (Luke 2:49). He was totally immersed in His Father's business. The main thrust of his ministry was "to seek and save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10). That would be accomplished by his sacrificial death, burial and resurrection. He continually focused on his relationship with His Father, "As the Father knoweth me, even so I know the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep" (John 10:15). His life was a life of prayer and meditation - with the Father. He went into the wilderness and fasted and prayed and "returned in the power of the Spirit" (Luke 4:14). All that He did reflected the Father's will and anointing of the Holy Spirit while He was on this earth. He taught his disciples to pray, "Our Father."

In our day of fast-paced living, a close relationship with the Father is still a must. Jesus prayed this prayer in John 17: 20 "Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. 24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. 25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. 26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them."

Someone has said that just being busy is Being Under Satan's Yoke. Let us declare with our Savior, "know ye not that I must be about my Father's business." He came to do the will of His father, stay in close relationship with His father through prayer and meditation, teach and preach the gospel, seek and save the lost, to finish the work which the Father gave Him to do. Does our business reflect these goals in whatever ministry God may gift one in?

"Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the powerful relationship with You that is provided through your Son, Jesus. Thank You that I can know you in such an intimate way. Thank You for the prayer that Your Son prayed, "that the love wherewith thou hast loved [Your Son Jesus] may be in [me]. Hallelujah! That is such a glorious, awesome fact and feeling - to have the same love in me that You loved Your Son with. O Mighty God, help me to love others with that love. Help me to seek You daily and be about Your business - to stay close to You, to pray and meditate, to minister the gospel, to seek and share the saving grace of our Savior with thost that are lost. Help me to finish the work you have given me on this earth. To those who are seeking You for the giftedness You have placed on them - let them be sure that You want them to be close to You, have Your love in them and be busy in Thy field of labor. May we boldly declare that we are BUSY, Being Under the Savior's Yoke. "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls" (Matthew 11:29).
