THE NEED AMONG US. . .

What has happened to the evangelistic fire among us? Has the fire died down? Where are the those who have a burden for the lost and pray and seek God until the Holy Ghost reproves and convicts? When will the fire of Pentecost be on our altar again? There is a great need among us to seek God until the plight of the lost (eternal fire) becomes so vivid that we cry and weep for their salvation.

Reinhard Bonnke says. . .

"The Gospel did not come out of somebody’s head. We have to move into the divine dimension, where the enemy cannot follow us. The devil is no match for the mind of the Holy Spirit. If we plan, preach, witness and evangelize as men, Satan will foil us. He can handle psychology and propaganda. The answer is: move in the Spirit and preach the Gospel as it is. Then the arch-confuser becomes confused, and he cannot follow the game at all. It is so good to know that you are on God’s team."

Huntingdon 60th Year Ministry Celebration

Sixty years have passed since the church here at Huntingdon had its beginnings in the late 1940's under a brush arbor, later a tent, then a basement and then the sanctuary. According to the best information that I have, the church began under the ministry of Bishop, and then, District Overseer Omer Lawson with the assistance of Sister Lois Guire and others. The church now has a nice parsonage along with the sanctuary and purchased a 7.5 plus or minus plot of land on Northwood Drive, near the by-pass. The property was purchased about 5 years ago and was completely paid for last year. The church is now in the process of praying, planning and preparing for the development of the new property.

Below are a few pictures of today's fellowship, along with pictures of Bishop Eugene Weakley and wife Juanita Weakley. I apologize for not getting pictures of the guest singers, Sisters In Grace. I took the pictures after the worship, singing and preaching and some left before the time to have fellowship and food.

Our precious folks enjoying the fellowship of one another.
More fellowship and the food was great and plenty of it.

Plenty of food and plenty of fellowship. . . .

Bishop Eugene Weakley and Sister Juanita Weakley. Very dedicated Christians who love the Lord and His people.

Bishop Weakley started his preaching ministry in 1948, just one year after the church at Huntingdon was organized. He has served as Pastor, District Overseer, Regional Overseer, General Appointee and State Overseer of Tennessee. He recently (2003) wrote a book entitled, God Keeps Good Books, an autobiography of his life and ministry. Former General Overseer, Fred Fisher requested that he write this book. I have read the book and it is full of sound maxims, wholesome humor and some great history of what God can do (and continues to do) with someone who submits to His will and obeys Him. As I read the book, my wife would hear me chuckle and ask, "what are you laughing about?" I'd say, "I'm reading Brother Weakley's book" and then keep on reading. I must say, "I laughed with him," as he told the humorous things that happened to him throughout his ministry and "I cried with him," at times when I read of the sacrifices of those who even gave the "coat off their back" (in the middle of Winter) to further the gospel of Jesus Christ. Thank God for Brother and Sister Weakley.

Local Leaders & Outreach

Local leaders have been appointed. Thank God for the many volunteers here at the local church. We now have a Youth Ministry Team and a Childrens Minister and assistant. If you desire to minister, volunteer for assisting with the leaders and they will involve you in the work. Each of us should be reaching out to witness to others and to bring them to Christ. There is always out reach ministry and each of us have a witness and we should be involved in witnessing.

Yesterday's services were great. There were 8 new visitors. These were mostly Brother Paul Rivera's family from Texas. They are looking for jobs here and planning to move here. We thank the Lord for His presence.

We also thank the Lord for the children. There were 10 children present in our children's ministry today. Sister Vickie Lawrence is doing a great job. She is also getting them started into a band with instruments.

The evening service was infused with a special presence of the Lord. Several were in the altar. One young man, age 8, testified to being saved. Others were praying and being blessed of the Lord. What a great time in His presence.

Are You A Caffeine Addict?

The following is taken from a web site called E. D. Foods, Inc. Their article may be of interest to you if you have that 4th or 5th cup of java every day. Here is a take off and some humor as well.

"How many of you have had a cup of coffee today? How about a soft drink? Chocolate? An Excedrin? All of the above products have one thing in common: They all contain caffeine.

As the world's most consumed drug, caffeine is an integral part of most people's daily lives. What most people don't realize is how much caffeine they consume. With serving sizes on the rise (super sized soft drinks, extra tall lattes, king sized chocolate bars), it's no wonder that more and more people are developing serious dependencies on this drug." Go here to finish reading.

Humor

-You haven't blinked since the last lunar eclipse

-You can take a picture of yourself from ten feet away without using a timer

-You spend every vacation visiting "Maxwell House"

-You are employee of the month at the local coffeehouse and you don't even work there

-All your kids are named "Joe"

-You don't sweat, you percolate

-You've worn out the handle on your favorite mug

-You go to AA meetings just for the free coffee

-You've built a miniature city out of little plastic stirrers

-The Taster's Choice couple wants to adopt you

-Starbucks owns the mortage on your house

-Instant coffee takes too long

-When someone says. "How are you?", you say, "Good to the last drop"

-You want to come back as a coffee mug in your next life

-You name your cats "Cream" and "Sugar"

-Your Thermos is on wheels

-You have a conniption over spilled milk

-You don't tan, you roast

-You don't get mad, you get steamed

-You can't even remember your second cup

-You introduce your spouse as your coffeemate

-Your first-aid kit contains two pints of coffee with an I.V. hookup

-Juan Valdez sends you a thank you card

*** Bonus Joke: A man went to his psychiatrist and said "Everytime I drink my coffee, I get a stabbing pain in my right eye." The psychiatrist said "Well, have you tried taking the spoon out?"***

WEATHER

Our large rose bush beside our house has bloomed again. This is the third time this year after the freeze in late April. I wonder if the rose bush is as confused about the weather as I am. Ninety degree temperature in October is very unusual for Tennessee. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Son and Father Time

Jason and Dad.

This evening and tonight I enjoyed time with my Son, Jason. We enjoyed traveling to Paris (Tennessee that is) and eating at Taco Bell and then to a movie. Jason continues to play the keyboard in our praise and worship time. Jason is our only Son and we are very thankful for him and love him very much. Our prayer is that Jason will continue using his talents and gifts for the Lord.
