Lonnie Bush

Mr. Lonnie H. Bush, 86, of Camden, Tennessee, died Monday, October 08, 2007 at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Christian Chapel Cemetery. Brother Roger Hollingsworth will officiate the services.

Mr. Bush was born January 19, 1921, in Carroll County, Tennessee, to the late Turner and Mattie Bush. He was a retired employee of General Motors. He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Bush.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Bush, three daughters, Carolyn Spain, of Huntingdon, TN, Jean Rodriguez, of Paris, TN, Jane Steel, of St. Louis, Missouri, and a son, Hulon Bush, of Paris, TN.

He also leaves nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 PM till 8 PM in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home and on Wednesday from 8 AM till time of services

Dilday Funeral Home - Huntingdon is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Ruby Bush and her husband Lonnie attended the church here at Huntingdon for many years. She passed on in August of 2004. She was a faithful worker in the church and Lonnie attended with her many times over the years.

WEATHER

Our large rose bush beside our house has bloomed again. This is the third time this year after the freeze in late April. I wonder if the rose bush is as confused about the weather as I am. Ninety degree temperature in October is very unusual for Tennessee. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Thank the Lord for another great day of meetings yesterday. The Holy Ghost was very present and manifested in glorious ways. People are worshipping the Lord and He is pouring out his glories on us. We thank the Lord for four new visitors yesterday.

This evening and tonight I enjoyed time with my Son, Jason. We enjoyed traveling to Paris (Tennessee that is) and eating at Taco Bell and then to a movie. Jason continues to play the keyboard in our praise and worship time. Jason is our only Son and we are very thankful for him and love him very much. Our prayer is that Jason will continue using his talents and gifts for the Lord.

HONORING THE CHURCH CLERK AND TREASURER

Sister Cathy Coleman, Local Church Clerk & Treasurer,

and Sunday School Teacher

Most leadership offices in the local church are held by volunteers, especially in smaller churches. On the fifth Sunday of each quarter we honor the Clerk and Treasurer (again, usually the person fills both positions in smaller churches) with a love offering.

This Sunday we honored Sister Cathy Coleman the Clerk and Treasurer of Huntingdon Church of God of Prophecy. Sister Coleman is a dedicated, faithful volunteer in the local church. She is the daughter of deceased Pastor, Bob Lawrence and his widow Sister Mildred Lawrence.

We appreciate her faithfulness and commitment to her work. She also teaches the young adult Sunday School class and helps lead singing. Where would our churches be without those who give of their time without any thought of receiving remuneration.

After service last night we had local church business conference. Sister Cathy had everything prepared and ready. Thank God for dedicated volunteers. God bless you Sister Cathy.

Double Surprise

Today was a special double surprise. The folks here had a birthday dinner and Pastoral Appreciation day for their pastor, with a dinner and offering. Thank God for folks who love, support and work together with their Pastor. The table was spread with a "feast fit for a king." They also blessed us with a $200.00 offering. We pray that our ministry to them will somehow bless them as they bless us so often. It was so refreshing to enjoy the fellowship, laughter, friendship and team spirit of these special people.

Continued Prayer. . .For Revival

October is World Mission Month and we want to be doing our best to raise funds for our harvest partner. Since Huntingdon, Tennessee is part of the world, we desire to see more outreach in our community and area. We are planning revival. Revival comes through prayer and seeking God. Let us look to the fields for there are many ready to be reached (in full-bloom, ready to be harvested).

Update

This past several days I have served as Volunteer Chaplain at the Baptist Hospital in Huntingdon. Yesterday I was called to visit a lady who was in severe pain. We prayed together and believe God worked a miracle. Continue to pray for Brenda W.

I enjoyed several visits yesterday. I stopped by and visited with Sister Donna Crossno and Delilah Mummel in their new office where they work (Ridgely Auction) and enjoyed a few minutes visit with them.

Sister Lawrence (widow of Pastor Bob Lawrence) made me welcome in her home for a brief visit and also her daughter Vickie made me feel welcome. I appreciate these two folks who transferred to the Huntingdon church a couple months ago.

I stopped by and visited with Brother Jimmie Davis as he was working in his shop behind his house. He was finishing some playground projects for his wife Sister Virginia, who operates the daycare just four houses up from the church. We appreciate this couple and their children and families who has been coming to church now for almost two years.

Great Time Today! and Congratulations

CONGRATULATIONS ARE IN ORDER!

Delilah Mummel and Denise Pyburn, new duo called Sisters In Grace, were chosen in the second round of the gospel talent search of the Grace Broadcasting (94.5 FM, 93.7 FM, both contemporary and 93.1, Southern Gospel) .

They will be singing in the final at the Community Center in Miftin, Tennessee about 20 miles from Jackson.

The two ladies are not only sisters in the Lord they are biological sisters and daughters of Alton and Donna Crossno. Delilah is lead singer in our local praise and worship team and sings some great solos as well. Denise and Delilah grew up attending the Church of God of Prophecy in Huntingdon.

Denise now attends the Pine Grove Baptist church in Lexington with her husband and three children. Sisters In Grace will be traveling with the Grace Broadcasting Gospel Tour this coming Fall and Spring. They request prayer to be an ambassador for Christ in their music ministry.

They will our guest singers at the Sixtieth (6oth) Celebration of Ministry of the Huntingdon Church of God of Prophecy.

Visit

Karen and I enjoyed a visit with James and Sharon Davidson tonight. We always receive a warm welcome there and enjoy the fellowship. We were also made welcome by their Toy Schnauzer, Sarge. He is very excitable and loving. Thank God for this couple.

Update

It has been a few days since I last posted. I have listed several things below that have taken place since Sunday.

Continuing in Crisis Call for Youth

This week I have already made five crisis calls from Tues-Thurs with Friday to go. These youth have been between the ages of 10-17. The needs are great for our youth and families today. I covet anyone's prayers for grace, strength and stamina as I serve these very needy children.

Helen Beasley Funeral

Sister Helen Beasley passed on to be with the Lord this past Monday. She was a faithful Christian and member of the East Nashville Church of God of Prophecy, where I pastored from July, 1998 until the end of July 2002. She served as clerk and treasurer for many years and also served as Sunday School Teacher and worked with the youth in other ministries. She is survived by Deacon Auda Binkley Beasley, sons Raymond Beasley, Robert Beasley and Eric Beasley and a daughter Sherry. She is survived by several granchildren and great grandchildren.

There were many visitors who came to the funeral and filled the Springhill Funeral Home Chapel to capacity. Former District Overseer of the Nashville area, L. E. Butler and Pastor Bob Hansen of the East Nashville Church of God of Prophecy officiated the funeral. Bishop Eugene Weakley former State Overseer of Tennessee attended along with his wife, Juanita. Sister Joyce Cowan, former State Treasurer of the Churches of God of Prophecy in Tennessee was present. I saw four former pastors present, Don Hall, Nelson Raeburn, George McDowell and me. There were many friend's and acquaintances there as well. Eric's pastor sang several songs which were great. The service was very special. Sister Beasley is resting in the peace and joy of the Lord. She will be greatly missed.

Today's Visitors

Brother Leon Reynolds (center) enjoyed having his step-son, on the right of the picture and a freind, on the left of the picture visiting today. They drove from Michigan to visit and be with him. We are thankful that they came.

FEATURING THE SMALL SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS

Sister Joyce Grace enjoys and is doing a great job with the small class. She has really been working with the children and getting her classroom covered with Biblically relative material to connect with the children. Lets let her know how much we appreciate her work. Thank God for dedicated workers who give of their time and efforts to minister to the children and youth.

Ladies Leadership Training

Two leadership training dates are scheduled for ladies who desire to be better equipped in leadersship. The Tennessee Women's Ministries Department has scheduled two dates in October. One of those dates is very close to Huntingdon and I encourage our Ladies to attend. You can click here for the link to the state page to get further information. Forms for this training can be downloaded. Anyone needing a form who does not have a computer or Internet can get one by requesting one from your pastor or from the state office.

I want to emphasize the date on October 27th which will be at the Paris church. All ladies are encouraged to attend this time of training for equipping to be a better leader.

Thank the Lord for another great Sunday. We remembered the suffering of our Savior and his great victory by celebrating the Lord's Supper. We were blessed as we remembered his great sacrifice and his precious blood that was shed for us.

We are so glad to see Sister Peggy Heath back with us after taking a very nasty fall several weeks ago.

PRAYER REQUESTS: Several were out today due to sickness in the family and other emergencies.

Jimmie and Virginia Davis were with her grandmother who is in Jackson General and is having some extreme pain. Remember this family in prayer.

The mother, Denise Pyburn and the baby are doing well. Delilah Mummel is the the sister of Denise and a proud aunt. Denise and Delilah are the singing duo, Sisters In Grace, and will be our guest singers for the 60th year celebration of the ministry here at the Huntingdon Church of God of Prophecy.

Thank the Lord for another great worship time in the Lord this morning. The Sunday School staff, and the Praise and Worship team did a great job. We thank the Lord for a great time in His presence. People were rejoicing and lifting up the Lord Jesus Christ. We are a church who believes in lifting up our Savior and Lord! He said, "If I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me." The message today, "The Cross - The Power of God," was taken from the text "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." 1 Corinthians 1:18 He was lifted up between heaven and earth and we lift him up in our worship, our lives and our service. We pray those who don't know Him in our families and neighborhood will find Him - the Savior of all men.

After church this morning, Brother Jimmie and Sister Virginia Davis invited us to eat out with them. We enjoyed the fellowship with them and his mother, Sister Willodene Davis. These folks have been a great blessing to Karen, Jason and I since they started attending about 2 years ago. Thank God for people who love the Lord and desire to be used in the kingdom of God. Brother Jimmie and his Son, Jeff are completing their Bachelor's Degrees in business from Bethel College and are on tract to graduate in May 2008. Great work men!

Another great time in the Lord was very evident in our evening service. Several came tonight anticipating a great time of worship. The praise, the worship, the testimonies, the WORD, the offering - every part of the service was to lift up our King. What a great time in the Lord. The prayer life of Jesus was emphasized in the message tonight. We ended the service joined in a prayer circle to lift up the names of our family and friends to the Lord. We are seeking God for a time of revival and outreach.

Courtney Hall

Karen and I enjoyed being with our oldest grandchild today as she cheered her team on. Courtney is a cheerleader at her intermediate school. We also enjoyed seeing our daughter Heather and grandson Caleb. They now live in Kentucky where they are building a new house.
Sammy was working on the house and we did not get to visit with him.

We thank the Lord for all four of our children and all four of our grandchildren. Thank God for family. We love all our family - Shane and Danita (our oldest), Heather (our second child) and Sammy with Courtney and Caleb, Jason (our son), and Sarah (our youngest) and Chris with Keyante' and Aviana.

Sister Peggy Wynn

I called and spoke to Sister Ruth King yesterday. She informed me that Sister Peggy Wynn, Brother Ray Wynn's wife died. Sister King is the sister of Brother Wynn. Sister King requested prayer for the family and for safety as she and Rita travel to Cleveland.

I JUST RECEIVED THIS EMAIL NOTICE, AND I AM PASSING IT ON...

We have lost a wonderful sister in the Lord. She loved the Lord and loved people. Peggy Wynn passed away last night somewhere around 8:30. They had taken her home as that was what she and the family wanted. They had removed the ventilator at the hospital at 9:30 a.m., taking her home at 10:15 a.m. Hospice and the family was there for Brother Wynn—the two sons, John & Jim and Sister Wynn’s sister, Virginia, made it in before she died. The lady from Hospice that was there when Peggy passed away made it much easier for the family. Brother Wynn said she was a God-send. Eva was her name and could she every sing! She sang Beulah Land—Mahalia Jackson had nothing on Eva—what a voice!Someone will be giving funeral arrangements later. Brother Wynn is to meet with the directors at 11:00 today.They appreciate your prayers.

I do not know whether there are any persons here present who can contrive to put themselves into my present position, and to feel my present feelings. If they can effect that, they will give me credit for meaning what I say, when I declare that I feel totally unable to preach. And, indeed, I think I shall scarcely attempt a sermon, but rather give a sort of declaration of the truths from which future sermons shall be made. I will give you bullion rather than coin; the block from the quarry, and not the statue from the chisel. It appears that the one subject upon which men preached in the apostolic age was Jesus Christ. The tendency of man, if left alone, is continually to go further and further from God, and the Church of God itself is no exception to the general rule. For the first few years, during and after the apostolic era, Christ Jesus was preached, but gradually the Church departed from the central point, and began rather to preach ceremonials and church offices than the person of their Lord. So has it been in these modern times: we also have fallen into the same error, at least to a degree, and have gone from preaching Christ to preaching doctrines about Christ, inferences which may be drawn from his life, or definitions which may be gathered from his discourses. We are not content to stand like angels in the sun; our fancies disturb our rest and must needs fly on the sunbeams, further and further from the glorious source of light. In the days of Paul it was not difficult at once, in one word, to give the sum and substance of the current theology. It was Christ Jesus. Had you asked anyone of those disciples what he believed, he would have replied, "I believe Christ." If you had requested him to show you his Body of Divinity, he would have pointed upward, reminding you that divinity never had but one body, the suffering and crucified human frame of Jesus Christ, who ascended up on high. To them, Christ was not a notion refined, but unsubstantial; not an historical personage who had left only the savour of his character behind, but whose person was dead; to them he was not a set of ideas, not a creed, nor an incarnation of an abstract theory; but he was a person, one whom some of them had seen, whose hands they had handled, nay, one of whose flesh they had all been made to eat, and of whose blood they had spiritually been made to drink. Christ was substance to them, I fear he is too often but shadow to us. He was a reality to their minds; to us—though, perhaps, we would scarcely allow it in so many words—rather a myth than a man; rather a person who was, than he who was, and is, and is to come—the Almighty.

Great! Awesome! Glorious! These are words to describe the worship today. Every part of the worship, singing, message, altar service and Holy Ghost visitation and message were great! Thank God for His presence throughout the meeting today! We believe the Lord wants to do great things among us here at Huntingdon to reach out with the message of Jesus Christ.

UPDATE, VISITS & PRAYER REQUESTS

Since the last post Karen and I have visted the funeral setting of Sister Marie Moore's brother Earl Lowe, at Calvary Bible Church, near Joelton, TN on Tuesday evening and I attended the funeral on Wednesday - 10:30 - 12:00 noon. Remember Sister Moore in prayer. This is her second sibling that has died in six weeks and both are younger than her. Sister Moore desires prayer for comfort and sustaining grace her health needs.

This week I have continued in doing crisis intervention and follow-up. Your prayers are desired for grace and strength.

Visits

Yesteday evening, I enjoyed visits with Jeremy and Delilah Mummel. They made me feel very welcome. The fellowship was refreshing. Jeremy tells me he is hoping to get started in church attendance. We also had a season of prayer.

Then I visited with Donna and Alton Crossno. I always feel welcome in thier home. Sister Donna served some banana pudding and it was delicious. I appreciate the openness and friendliness of these faithful ones.

Stuck In The Middle

Being a teen in the 60's it was difficult to avoid the hippy culture. While I was not a "true hippy," I did have the long hair and for several years listened to the rock music of that day. Sometime in that era (late 60's or 70's) I remember a song entitled Stuck In The Middle With You by the group Steelers Wheel. More recently Kieth Urban has recorded the song. Part of the lyrics say, Well, I'm stuck in the middle with you, And I'm wondering what is I should do, It's so hard to wipe this smile from my face, Lose control and I'm all over the place, Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, Here I am, stuck in the middle with you. Here I am, here I am, Stuck in the middle with you. Of course the song is dealing with a more relative subject to the song than I am going to speak of here. Nevertheless the thought of the song has truth in it.

Have you ever felt like you were or are stuck in the middle? Well don't despair, it happens to the best and the worst. As a younger minister several years ago one pastor gave me this maxim, "if you walk in the middle of the road, you get hit on both sides." I've learned this is very true. To be involved sometimes means "being stuck in the middle." One could just draw up in a shell and not get involved and say, "I don't know anything about anything." However, a caring person, especially a caring Christian, may find themselves "stuck in middle." That feeling of being "stuck in the middle" can cause a person to feel dejected, rejected and very much alone. Paranoia has no friends but rejection, dejection and being alone are very real.

Take courage and don't be too ashamed when you remember the ONE who was "stuck in the middle," some 2000 years ago with no reason to be stuck there except to give HIS life for all those who are "seriously stuck in the middle" between God's impending wrath and judgment and the gift that He provided for all who will come and trust in HIM. As HE hung there "stuck in the middle" between heaven and earth, HIS prayer was "father forgive them for they know not what they do." When HE cried, "I thirst," he was offered the wine vinegar that had some pain reliever in it and HE refused it. When one of the dying thieves came to realize it was the SAVIOR hanging next to him, the thief said these simple words, "remember me when you come into your kingdom." To this beleaguered, repentant thief who realized he needed a SAVIOR more than being freed from the cross he was stuck to, JESUS replied, "this day you will be with me in paradise."

There HE was "stuck in the middle" of dozens on that day and millions more and billions to come. As HE hung there HIS heart breaking, HE looked out to view HIS mother standing next to the disciple whom he loved and said to his mother "behold thy son," and to that disciple, "behold thy mother." When HE cried, "I thirst" again he was given raw vinegar on a sponge and he accepted the sponge for a little moisture. HE looked up to HIS Father, who could not view the sin that was nailed to him, and with a longing for HIS Father, HE cried "My God, My God why have you forsaken me?" As HE hung there in deep agony, indescribable suffering and sorrow, HE proclaimed the words that all who are "stuck in the middle," rejoice over time and time again. HE proclaimed, "It is finished." No longer are those who trust HIM "stuck in the middle." Now HE is no longer "stuck in the middle" between heaven and earth. HE is risen and is now sitting at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us.

Weekend & Prayer requests

Thank God for a great weekend. The Lord blessed greatly in our times of worship this weekend. We thank the Lord for his many blessings and for his presence. We are in a time of seeking the Lord for outreach and for leadership.

Sister Marie Moore requests prayer for her brother and family. Her brother, Earl, is very sick with cancer and not expected live as each day passes.

Casey Duncan and family requests prayer. He was involved in an auto accident yesterday. No one was seriously hurt but three cars were involved - two totaled and the other damaged. Casey was hurt some but after examining in the ER was released.

Prayer for revival and outreach. Prayer for leadership in the local church.

Update

It has been a few days since I last posted. My week has been very active. I had a Dr's appointment on Wednesday and also had my oxygen level checked since I have been having some pressure in my chest and shortness of breath. Oxygen level checked out okay. It is likely stress related. Karen is back teaching school and is very involved there.

In between continuing studying on the DMin. and church planning, I have also been doing some crisis intervention counseling and, of course, no details can be given here. I have been in prayer concerning the appointment of local leaders, training and equipping local leaders/members and seeking the Lord for the continued development of the PAID OFF 7.5 acres plus property. We are also seeking the Lord for revival and outreach.

God is blessing with new visitors and with faithful leaders and members who continue in their work day in and day out.

Yesterday

Yesterday, I was the first to sing happy birthday to Karen.

I also enjoyed several visits.

I enjoyed visiting with Stanley Reynolds in his Communications/Computer reproducing shop. He really has a great time doing videos and reproducing them for so many folks. Great work Stanley. We enjoyed a great time of fellowship and prayer.

Brother J. E. and Sister Marie Moore always make me welcome in their home. We enjoyed a great time of visiting and prayer.

Brother Leon Reynolds also welcomes us in their home. We had a good time of visiting.

It was also good to visit with Brother Jimmie Davis. He and his family are one of our newer church attendees and he has really been doing some great work here with us.

WATER BAPTISM SUNDAY & GREAT SUNDAY EVENING SINGING

Today was the second Sunday for water baptism. Mariah Hernandez was saved in youth camp this year and was baptized there but she wanted to be baptized in her local church while her family attended. We enjoyed a great time of gospel singing with the Grace Abound Quartet and Sisters in Grace tonight at church.

Hello Milton

I would like to ask prayer for one of my members, Brother Wayne Surles, who had a bad motorcycle accident on Friday afternnon. He was air lifted by helicopter to Earlanger hospital in Chattanooga. I went there and stayed with the family until about 2 this morning. Wayne has 5 broken ribs, a bad cut on the back of his head, a punctured and collapsed lung with blood in it, a possible broken hip. His hip is so swollen right now they could not determine just by a normal xray. He may have some neck injuries also. He was and still is conscious and he is asking for prayer from all. If you could please post this on your blog. His wife, Angie, is also a member here at Campaign and she has M S and right now she is going through a bad episode. She is to begin 3 treatments per week in Nashville for that. They really need your prayers. The young lady, Sarah Creasy, that had a bad auto accident a few weeks ago and was also air lifted to Earlanger hospital was in a coma for about a week but she came home this past Thursday and is doing good. She still has a brace on her neck to help heal a vertebrea that was broken and she has some short term memory loss. They will be going to Chattannoga during the week for out patient therapy. The same God that delivered Sarah can also deliver Wayne.

Prayer

It seems there is so much work to do and time moves swiftly. Lord, help me to slow down and rest in you. Give me your strength and stability. Calls come in from different places with problems and situations. I ask for grace for these needs and troubles that come from different causes and places. Only YOU, O LORD, know all things and have all authority and power. Give me strength to walk in YOU today and cover me with the protection and providence of your Son. I ask for blessing and guidance for the leaders of our nation, state, communities and for the leaders in our churches. Give wisdom and guidance to every leader and help them in their deliberations and decisions. In HIS NAME I pray. AMEN!

WATER BAPTISM SUNDAY

Preparations for the water baptismal service started yesterday around 4 pm when the baptistry was cleaned and filled with water. Today was a great day to start my fourth year as Pastor in Huntingdon. Two of the children in our church were baptized. Jonah Davis and Hayden Arnold were baptized. Several new folks came today from Hayden's family. Pictures to follow later.

Wedding and Reception of Crystal Davidson and Matthew Spelling

Karen and I enjoyed being at Crystal Davidson's and Matt Spelling's wedding tonight. The wedding went very well with a large attendance at the First United Methodist church of Huntingdon. Crystal is the daugher of James and Sharon Davidson both members of the church here at Huntingdon. She is also the Granddaughter of J. E. and Marie Moore who are members as well. We enjoyed the reception and meeting several new folks. The refreshments and snacks were very good. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Matt Spelling.

Reynolds Family Reunion

Karen and I visited the Reynolds family reunion today. It was good to see Brother Leon's family. We enjoyed the brief visit before we left for the critical care unity of the Jackson Memorial Hospital.

PRAISE REPORT

Today, Karen and I visited with Sister Jennie Sanders and prayed with her for her oldest son, William, who had surgery on Wednesday for a blocked artery. The surgery went well but he suffered a stroke after the surgery. After visiting with Sister Jennie, I went to the critical care unit in Jackson Memorial Hospital. I was allowed 5 minutes with William. Prayers have gone up for his physical needs and spiritual needs. God opened the door while I was visiting and Mr. William Sanders prayed and ask the Lord to be his Savior and Lord today. A simple question of, "are you ready to meet the Lord should you die?" He responded, "No." I then aked if he would pray for Christ to be His Savior. He readily said, "Yes." We prayed together and I led him in the sinner's prayer. Thank God for a newborn in the family of God. We visited with Sister Jennie after we returned home and she was overjoyed. Thank God!

Karen enjoyed doing some tax free shopping at the Jackson Old Hickory Mall before we left to go back home.

PRAISE REPORTS & PRAYER REQUESTS

Karen had minor surgery for a cyst that had lodged and grown near the joint in her left thumb (she had what is commonly called "Trigger Finger"). Her thumb would lock bent and it would be painful for her to straighten it and when it was straight it would be painful for her to bend it. The surgery went well with no malignancy. The stitches were taken out today and she will be doing her own rehab by working and using the thumb. One does not understand how important a thumb is until it is gone or unusable. Thank the Lord she is on the mend.

Sister Jenny Sanders called requesting prayer for her oldest son who is having heart surgery today. She requests that he will be saved most of all.

A anonomous request came in for a spouse who is having to be fed with a stomach tube.

Let us pray for these requests.

Update - State Convention and Appointment

The Tennessee State Convention is history now. It was a great convention. I did not get to post on Saturday's or Sunday's convention events until today since I was not feeling well for much of Saturday, Saturday evening and yesterday. Thank the Lord I feel better today.

Thank the Lord for a great time on Saturday with the Children and Youth ministry programs. Thank the Lord also for a powerful message from the North American Presbyter, Bishop Sam Clements. He preached from Acts chapter 2 and encourged us to minister the WORD - the message of Jesus Christ. He emphasized the need to preach the GIFT - Jesus Christ - and not to be caught up in the gifts but allow the Holy Ghost to lead us and minister through us as He will. He emphasized that the Holy Ghost was sent and is present today to lift up Christ and to show us and lead us into Christ. THANK GOD!

Sunday was another great time of worship and a timely message from Presiding Bishop, E. C. McKinley. He encouraged us to use every possible method of reaching the lost. He also emphasized the need for discipleship. He also encouraged us and challenged us to think "larger" and not be bound by small thinking. Bishop McKinley expressed his heart to the church in Tennessee by exhorting us to move forward in the things of Christ and realize that Christ has all "power" and "authority."

Sister Karen and I look forward to continuing in our appointment to the pastorate at Huntingdon. God is up to something in the Huntingdon area and we are exited about being right where God is moving and blessing - as vessels in His mighty hands.

Bishop McKinley noted that some had not been spoken to about a specific appointment. When my name was called for a newly formed Education Committee, I looked over at my wife and said, "Am I supposed to go up front now." She said, "Yes, thats what Brother McKinley said." Thats how surprised I was. I look forward to being actively involved in this committee and working with Bishop McKinley and the rest of the committee to serve the church in Tennessee.

Local Church Leadership

All leadership positions are open beginning the first of September. Efforts will be made to fill the positions that each one is willing to work in by October. Those in positions at this time will be considered if they express their willingness and desire to continue in that leadership. Local ministries with no leaders after October will be operated on a limited basis and/or be open for anyone to fill after speaking with the Pastor. The Ministry Position Leaderships that are open are, Education Ministries, Outreach (Evangelism) Ministries, Youth Ministries, Children's Ministries, Women's Ministries, Men's Ministries, Family Ministries, Communications Ministries, Music Ministries, Facilities (buildings and grounds) Ministries and Fellowship Ministries. Other ministries will come under one of the previous ministry leaderships. For example, Heritage Ministries will come under Communications Ministries. Small care groups will come under Fellowship Ministries. Sunday school and Continuing Ministry Education (Foundations, Bible Courses, Tomlinson Center, Beacon College, etc) will come under Education Ministries Director.

Your prayers for God's direction in your ministry are vital to this church. Each one is encouraged to pray and seek God for direction in your ministry. Be open and welcome to speak to the Pastor about what you feel God is leading you to do for Him and His kingdom. The final decisions will be announced by the Pastor on first or second Sunday in October.

State Convention

Karen and I are enjoying a great convention. Today's Pastor's luncheon was great. We fellowshipped, laughed, saw folks we have not seen for the last couple years and also met some new ministers who are coming to work in Tennessee and, of course, we enjoyed a great meal.

The meeting tonight was awesome. The worship singing, the singing by The King's Messengers and a testimony by a state Representative from upper Mississippi was great. Bishop Larry Dotson, Florida State Overseer, preached a great, inspirational message. Several were in the altar. We were challenged to seek the Lord until the Holy Ghost comes and moves among us. What a great time in the Lord tonight!

PRAISE REPORT

Sisters Donna Crossno and Delilah Mummel have been requesting prayer for several weeks/months and this week both were hired at the same place with a substantial increase. They are both thanking God for his provision and increase. We also praise the Lord with them and thank the Lord.

Brother Casey Duncan has requested prayer for a job that has regular hours and be off on Sundays. He will begin his new job this coming Monday. Praise the Lord!

"Saturday, July 7 or 7-7-07, was a great day. My wife Lisa, some of our team, and I spent the entire day at LP Stadium in Nashville attending "The Call." This was a hot event. It was hot spiritually, and it was hot physically! With temperatures rising above 95 degrees in Tennessee the heat on the stadium field was well over 100 degrees. Yet, some 70,000 came through the turnstiles to attend "The Call Nashville." Beginning as early as 7:00 a.m. in the morning with a repentance walk and ending after 10:00 p.m., attendees came to pray, fast, and seek God's face for this generation. Purity, cleansing, and a renewing of covenant love with Christ were themes for the day. There were times of great spiritual heaviness and times of great rejoicing."

Great Weekend!

Thank the Lord for the Yard Sale. Several more Heritage Ministry Members are added to our number. We met some new people in the yard sale that afforded us the opportunity to invite them to church. We thank each one who made the yard sale a great success.

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

Today, Karen and I arose early (5 am) to help set-up for the Yard Sale which we believe was a success. I've just now checked my email for the first time today and the following prayer request was emailed to me at 11:42 am. It is from fellow pastor and friend Vernon Caruthers.

Dear Milton,

"I would appreciate you placing this urgent prayer request on your blog. Sarah Creasy, age 20, one of our youth here at Campaign was involved in a very serious auto accident this Saturday morning about 1:30 am. Sarah was air lifted to Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga. I just returned from there and she is in a coma, she crushed her 7th cervical vertebrae and she has a severe cut behind her neck. She cut an atrery there behind her neck and she has lost over 1/2 of her blood supply. She is in ICU there. I will be returning in a few hours to check on her again. Both of Sarah's parents and grandparents are members here at Campaign and they would appreciate your prayers so very much, as well as the prayers of your readers."

Visit With Mahans

Karen and I traveled to the Reelfoot Lake area today and enjoyed a quiet, peaceful time there. We then had dinner with the Northwest Tennessee Presbyter, Bishop Clayton Mahan and wife Loudonna who live in that area and Pastor Ridgely, Tn. We enjoyed our first visit with them and for the first time visiting their new church building and their new log home on 70 beautiful acres. We had a great time.

Tonight's service will emphasize prayer, Bible Study and there will be a short business conference after the service tonight.

Bishop Eugene Weakley's 80th Birthday Surprise

Brother Weakley's 80th birthday surprise celebration was this past Saturday. His daughter, Regina, and Sister Weakley planned the surprise. Karen and I mailed a card. We were unable to attend. Brother Weakley has been a great inspiration in our ministry. Karen and I served in his administration from 1986-1999. I remember asking him the question, what good advice would you give to a young minister? I have not forgotten what he answered. He said, "stay close to God and preach a balanced message." Below is a picture of Bishop Weakley fellowshipping with members during a Christmas Banquest visit a couple years ago. He could always be seen reaching out to shake hands and converse with each one. Brother Weakley is a giant Christian and powerful pulpit minister. We love him and Sister Weakley.

Today

Today has been somewhat busy with doing some work around the church and the property on Northwood. I helped Brother Leon Reynolds with some cleaning at the sanctuary. Then, Karen and I picked up some sticks on the property so Brother J. E. Moore could mow the Northwood property. While he was mowing, I cleaned the pavilion along with the help of Brandon Moore's two young stepsons. This evening, I continue to mow the parsonage lawn until dark. In between all these activities, I went and took care of some business at the electric department and went to the dentist to have some adjustments made on my temporary two front teeth crown. I also called about the payoff on the new property since we have not received any notice of payoff or records other than our cancelled check that was received back in December of 2006. Still waiting on a response.

Thank the Lord for a great day of worship. The attendance was up yesterday and several who have been on vacation or away visiting families were back. I began a series of messages on the book of Hebrews. In context, Hebrews was written to Christian Hebrews who were looking back or had gone back to the Old Covenant laws and practices during the time of Moses. While the same God led them, we are now under the New Covenant. Hebrews speaks to any Christian who tends to look back with longing or desire to be under any system that does not worship and lift up Jesus Christ as the perfect complete sacrifice. As the writer encourages, "looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. . ." and "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today and for ever. . ."

Sunday evening was our monthly time of worship in singing, testimony, poetry, scripture sharing and any other edifying presentation. We enjoyed the video, "That's My King."

Update

What a great time Karen and I had with our youngest granddaughter, Aviana. Sarah and Chris celebrated their anniversary by going on a short trip, so we kept Aviana for a 2 days and a night. We spoiled her. Isn't that what grandparents do? Now she is gone back home with them.

Today

Karen and I visited with our youngest Daughter, Sarah, husband Chris and our youngest granddaughter Aviana. Aviana is spending the night with Mamaw and Papaw. What a treat!

Prayer Request

Sister Lois Thomas called requesting prayer. She is having some medical tests tomorrow. Remember her in prayer.

July 4, 2007

Today has been a day of rest after having two front teeth crowns started yesterday. Jason worked today which gave him double time pay. We were invited to the lake with the Leon Reynolds family but declined since Jason is working and my front teeth are temps and my gums are very sore.

After Jason got home, per his request, Karen cooked cabbage, turnip greens, battered okra and chicken. We had a quiet, peaceful day at the parsonage.

I called Sister Ruth King who has not been feeling well and she stated that she is doing much better. She was visited by her Sister today and the past few days.

Karen and I went to the TN river bridge to watch the fourth celebration. It had been cancelled.

Yesterday & Today

Yesterday was a day of rest (mostly), although I did do some office work and paying of bills, etc.

Today, I have been to the dentist and had a double crown started on my two middle front teeth. I have been gargling salt water and trying to get use to these temps until a couple weeks and then I will have to get used to the crowns. My face, from my upper lip up to the bridge of my nose feels wierd. Oh well, it will wear off soon.

Stanley Reynolds called wanting what pictures I took of VBS so he can include them in the DVD that he is making.

SATURDAY EVENING AND SUNDAY

The youth event very well last night. We enjoyed the food, fellowship and fun. The video "Thou Shalt Laugh" was hilarious and enjoyed by all.

Both of today's services went well even though several are away on vacation or being out of town with family.

NOTE: No Wednesday evening service since folks want to be with family and friends on the 4th.

UPDATE - YESTERDAY AND TODAY

Yesterday I travelled to Nashville to visit with Sister Margaret Creasy's family. Her daughter died on Thursday. Earlier in the week I had received a call to pray and visit her if possible. I did not get there but did visit the family at the funeral home.

Karen and I just returned from the Daniel Laws and Lori Rivera wedding. The wedding was outside in a beautiful setting with family and many friends. We wish the best for Lori and Daniel. Lori came by the parsonage Thursday since we had gotten the word to her that the church members and friends had signed a card and gave her some money. She was very thankful and said she would use it for their trip to Gatlinburg. We hugged her and wished her well.

Tonight is the Youth Event at the church and Karen and Jason are already over at the church. Some cars are pulling in. More later.

Update & Prayer Requests

This morning I had a dental appointment. After cleaning my teeth, the dentist gave me the news. I have several cavities and need two crowns in the front and one in the back along with other fillings. It has been two years plus since visiting a dentist.

After the dental visit, I attended the funeral of Sister Marie Moore's sister, Jennifer Penson.
Since I have been back home I have been studying for Sunday and reading.

Karen stayed home today to await the return of the campers who would be picked up here at the church. She told me that Mariah and Hayden both came in rejoicing about their experiences in youth camp. It looks like we are going to have a baptismal service since Hayden wants to be baptized at the church.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

Jennifer Penson's family continues to need prayer.

Sister Marie Moore desires continued prayer.

Sister Peggy Heath desires continued prayer. From the recent fall, she has a crushed elbow, two breaks in her arm below the elbow, three broken ribs, a large knot on her head and bruises all over. We are thankful that she is able to be up and around some but is still staying with her son.

Sister Mildred Stacey desires continued prayer. She is recovering well from knee replacement but will be in physical therapy for some time. Also her husband, Ralph, continues to desire prayer.

Sister Susie Reynolds desires continued prayer. She is several weeks post knee surgery but continues to have pain and lack of mobility.

Youth and Children: Continued prayer for the youth and children ministry here in Huntingdon.

UPDATE & PRAYER REQUESTS

After getting back home yesterday from visiting our children and grandchildren, Karen and I visited the Brummitt Funeral Home and the family of Jennifer Penson, Sister Marie Moore's sister. Continue to pray for this family.

The service last night went well. It was good to see Krystel Grace and her friend Matt Boyd (first time visitor) also it was good to see Wesley back to visit again. Sister Donna Crossno did a great job of sharing the word last night. The service was great!

Death Notice

Sister Marie Moore's sister, Jennifer Pinson, died yesterday after being in a coma for several days from terminal cancer. Her remains are at McKenzie in Brummett Funeral Home. Visitation begins today at 5:00 pm. The funeral is tomorrow, Thursday, June 28, at 11:00 am. Pray for this family.

Karen and I travelled to Nashville yesterday afternoon and spent the night. Today I had a doctor's appointment in Nashville. I continue to have a skin disorder but seems to be doing some better. The doctor says there is no cure but it may eventually clear up.

This afternoon Karen and I went to our youngest daughter's home and visited with them in Manchester. I have some business to take care of there tomorrow. We will be traveling to my second daughter's to visit tomorrow in Southern Kentucky. We, so much, enjoy visiting and being with our children and grandchildren.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

Sister Marie Moore called today requesting continued prayer for her sister that is in a coma from cancer. Sister Moore stated that she could die at any time. Sister Moore also requested prayer. She has continued problems with diabetes and recently was diagnosed with shingles.

Continued prayer for revival, local leadership ministry and development of new church property.

Today's morning service was great with new folks still coming. There was a good spirit of worship and the participation was good.

NOTE: Family night tonight - no scheduled sanctuary service.

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

Sister Peggy Heath, fell down a fairly high flight of stairs from the top stair yesterday evening. She was taken to the ER and exams showed one of her arms was broken below the elbow joint. She was also bruised and shaken up considerably. She desires prayer. She cannot be contacted at home, she is with her son's family for now.

Sister Donna Crossno, is sick today. Remember her in prayer.

Sister Marie Moore continues to desire prayer and also for her younger sister who is now in a coma with terminal cancer. The family requests prayer for comfort and strength. Also her brother is very sick.

Sister Jennie Sanders, continues to request prayer.

Sister Lennie Mae Crossno's family requests prayer for her. She is in McKenzie Rehab. Facility.

Sister Lilly Grooms requests continued prayer for shortness of breath and weak heart.

Sister Susie Reynolds, requests continued prayer for recovery from knee surgery.

Cindy Duncan's grandmother has eye infection and requests prayer.

Casey Duncan, requests prayer in his work situation. He wants a job that does not require late hours and Sunday work.

Youth and Children: Pray for the children in youth camp and for the youth ministry here at the church.

Revival: Pray for revival and for outreach to those in our families and community who need Christ in their lives.

Leaders: Pray for local church leaders and their ministry.

State Convention: Pray for the upcoming State Convention and State Overseer, E. C. McKinley who will be moderating the convention.

Rain: Thank the Lord for the showers today. Continue to pray for more rain. The farmers crops are very dry and shriveled

VBS & YOUTH CAMP

VBS ended on a great note last night. The children were given their certificate and also other awards were given out. Chelsey and Tristen tied for bringing the most to VBS and Brandon received the award for the being the most involved and attentive. Sisters Donna and Delilah did a great job of Directing and the rest of the staff did great as well. Brother Stanley came and videoed the celebration. Overall it was a great VBS and we pray that the children will remember the principles that were taught and most of all will know and learn more of the STAR of Game Day Central - Jesus Christ. Discussion of plans for next year have already begun among the staff.

Youth Camp is well underway at Camp Hickory Hills in Dickson County. Below are pictures of some of the youth along with the five that are being taken to camp today. Karen and I, along with the folks here, are diligent promoters of church youth camp. Karen and I worked in camp for years. We both attended several years as campers when we were young. My first year at Youth Camp was at the original site of Camp Hickory Hills in Madison, TN back in the late 50's. The boys slept in a huge tent, in army cots, on the side of the hill behind the tabernacle and what is now the property of Cornerstone Church. The floor was covered with wood chips and one night when it rained, we thought we were going to be flooded out. That was camping in those days.

VBS CONTINUES

The VBS continued with a great time and atmosphere. The children are responding well to the theme of "Game Day Central" which teaches the principle of teamwork. Tomorrow night is the closing celebration.

VBS continued tonight with four more new attendees - one middle school and two cradlers. Casey Duncan also joined in to help tonight.
Just thinking if we can get up and hit it again.
Children enjoy the songs with lyrics and motions on video.

The Call 07/07/07

What: A silent prayer walk from the Parthenon to LP Field -2.7 miles No signs, no flags, no banners

When: July 7, 2007 – Kicking off the Call Nashville 7am-9am (be sure to arrive early so we can keep on schedule)

Where: Begins at Centennial Park Band Shell next to the Parthenon and marches up Church Street, through the heart of the city and into the stadium

Transportation: We suggest you have a driver designated to drop off your group at Centennial Park for the Repentance Walk. Parking will not be available at Centennial Park.

Why: For 40 years our nation has been reeling under the influence of the sexual revolution. The fruit has been the disintegrating family unit, divorce skyrocketing, sexual abuse is everywhere, pornography is the norm, and gross perversion, rape and violence ravage our land.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Sister Mildred Stacy continues in the hospital and rehab for her knee replacement. She desires prayer for her and her husband, Ralph.

Sister Virginia Davis's grandmother was taken to the ER this evening. She desire prayer.

Prayer is desired for the workers and the children in VBS.

Sister Marie Moore's sister and brother both desire prayer. Sister Marie also desires prayer.

TODAY

This morning I went to the Huntingdon Ministerial Alliance monthly breakfast and meeting. It is enjoyable to meet with other ministers and fellowship and share together. This coming September will begin my fourth year as a Volunteer Chaplain at Huntingdon Baptist Memorial Hospital. Hospital Chaplain, Jerry Leggett, has been very helpful and is a great minister friend.

Karen and I left for Jackson after that and went to get some things for VBS.

This afternoon we continued working on some things to help Sister Donna in VBS. VBS was great tonight with two more added to the attendance. The children are getting into the worship with the use of the laptop and projector and staff working with them as they learn the songs. The theme "Game Day Central" has given great opportunity to show the different team members and the roles each serves. More pictures and stuff later.
