HUNTINGDON HOMECOMING PICTURES - OCT. 29, 2006

THANKSGIVING

What a blessed time of the year we celebrate in our nation. Thanksgiving. We are admonished to be thankful. Not only do we have numerous temporal blessings to be thankful for, we have a host of spiritual blessings that God bestows on us daily. We are blessed with salvation, sanctification and the blessed Holy Spirit baptism. We are blessed with family and friends and the family of God.

It is our prayer that you have a blessed Thanksgiving and that your time with family will be blessed abundantly. Karen, Jason and I will be with family at our oldest daughter's house. We will also be with Karen's family for a visit as well. May God keep and bless each one.

GREAT, AWESOME!

We are praising God for another great Sunday of worship services. The presence of the Lord has been especially close today. People were challenged as we continue to pray during this time of 100 days of prayer. The spirit of intercession has gripped our hearts and the Holy Ghost is moving among us in ways beyond our comprehension. People are weeping, shouting, lying prostrate, drunk in the spirit. The enemy is being defeated in people's lives, in family's lives and in the church here. We simply say, "To God be the Glory for how great He is and for what He is doing among us!

YOUTH RETREAT

Jason came back early to be in church this morning and reported that he enjoyed the conference. He said there was a great spirit of worship and unity there. The youth are going forward for the Lord. Certainly, I believe this is the generation that will see the coming of our Lord.

TENNESSEE YOUTH RETREAT

YOUTH CONFERENCE: The Tennessee Youth Conference Retreat is presently underway (Nov. 17-19, 2006) at the Hickory Hills Campground in Dickson. Sister Karen and I visited last evening. The worship was outstanding as the State Youth Directors moderated. Jeff Jones ministered what I believe is a much needed message for today that dealt with listening to God and how our days are inundated with noise and visual messages that distract from hearing God. I look forward to hearing about the rest of the retreat and what God is doing with and among the youth of the church. Jason is there and we look forward to hearing when he gets back home.

LOOK WHAT THE LORD HAS DONE

A great spirit of unity and revival moving in the local church.

We give God praise and honor for all He is doing and thank him.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2006

Thank God for another great Sunday of worship. We thank the Lord for over $1400.00 dollars being turned in to World Missions for the month of October. Brother Ntezimana James, Overseer of Uganda and Sudan will be needing this to help with new tires and other needs as he noted in an email. We are continuing to pray for this country. I received an email from him a few days ago. Here is part of the email.

Hello Milton

We just finished our Leadership Conference. It endend yesterday. The attendence was 700 pastors with many blessings. Thank you for your prayers. Getrudha , my wife has not yet gone through operation and seems God has done his operation. Please keep praying for her complete Milacle. I will be sending you june programme very soon so that you start praying about it. . . How is your wife and the Church. We are praying for you. Coming soon is Ladies Retreat which starts 22nd Nov.-26th.Pray for the move of the Spirit upon the ladies. I will get back to you this week but per now, let me wish you big blessing.

PRAYER REQUEST

I received a prayer request from a friend of mine, Vernon Caruthers. Sharon is going through some very difficult times. Here is the request from Vernon's email.

Milton, I need you to pray for Sharon. She had an awful hard time trying to walk this past week. She thought it was her knee but it kept getting worse. Friday night she bent down to get something out of a bathroom cabinet and she heard her hip pop. The pain was intense and she could not stand to put weight on it at all. I took her to the ER and they did an x-ray which showed that her hip joint that she had totally replaced ---- the big long iron stem has broken into two pieces straight across and they are sitting on top of each other. She will have to have another total hip replacement. They have to order the hardware and it will probably be done on Tuesday here at McMinnville. She was in some terrible pain this morning with severe muscle spasms. They gave her a shot of Nebane and she had some bad reactions to it and she jerked her entire body so hard it took 2 of us to hold her on the bed. She is discouraged. This will make 5 big surgeries on that right hip. That hip replacement was done only 2 years ago. When it rains it pours. The only insurance she has is her Medicare. Oh Well. Here we go again. Have the church to please pray for us. Vernon

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2006

We praise the Lord for a great time yesterday. Even during the classes the spirit of the Lord moved and one person, Gloria, was saved. She is one of the new people here at the church. She gave her heart and life back to the Lord after being away for the past three years. She also sang a song during worship in Spanish. She said, "I haven't sung this song in over three years but today I can sing it with peace in my heart." Our Hispanic folks enjoyed the song and the rest of us rejoiced as she sang to the glory of God. The angels in heaven rejoiced as this one came back home. She said, "God has accepted me back and changed my heart and now I am changing my life-style to please the Master." We are continuing to pray for her and her friend Tay.

After the message each one was given the opportunity to receive Communion. There was a special presence of the Lord.

The service was charged with the presence of the Lord last night as people came to the altar. Prayer was the focus for the whole service. God's presence was very evident. Some were prostrate in His presence. Others were rejoicing and weeping as the Holy Ghost swept through. We are seeking God for revolutionary revival. Thank God for the precious Holy Ghost and for our Savior and Lord.

Update

It has been several days since I have posted here. Karen and I have been very busy. We have been doing a lot of traveling and working. We have also been with Jason who is in need of prayer at this time.

Tuesday was the "Trunk or Treat" activity for the children and youth. Due to rainy weather we did not have the candy in the trunk but we did have several to come to the parsonage. We gave out candy as we greeted the children.

Wednesday evening's service was very refreshing as the presence of the Lord met with us in a special way. Tears flowed as the presence of the Lord melted our hearts into prayer. Prayer was the emphasis and we asked the Lord to help us get aligned with His will and with His desires for ministry here.

FIFTY-NINTH HOMECOMING 2006

Glorious time today at the Huntingdon Church of God of Prophecy! The presence of the Lord was very evident as 60 plus came to enjoy the Homecoming. The Walkers ministered in great fervency and anointing. They ministered in song (many written by them) with a powerful message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. What a great time!

We were thankful to note that the new property has been paid off and $3000.00 was donated today for the furtherance of the ministry in the development of the new property. We joyfully move forward to reach others for Jesus. We also anticipate the time that we begin building the new multi-purpose building.

The fellowship was great - not to mention the food. We also are very thankful for new visitors Gloria and Tay and Tay's children Dontaye and Takita. We are also thankful for the newest addition of babies to the church - twins (a boy Easton and a girl Delaney) of Chad and Kim Byars. God is blessing and we are praising Him and rejoicing!

THE WALKERS TO MINISTER AT HOMECOMING

The Walker Family, of Perry, Florida will be the guest ministers and singers at the Huntingdon Church of God of Prophecy annual Homecoming on October 29, 2006 beginning at 10:30 am. There will be worship, giving, singing, gospel ministry, in word and song. The Walkers are a prominent gospel group from Perry, Florida and they minister with great spirit and fervency. The mother of the family is an evangelist and will be ministering in the Word.

There will also be a special time of honoring Bishop Omer Lawson who was very involved and instrumental in the establishing of the Church of God of Prophecy in Huntingdon. Bishop Lawson passed from this life in late September of this year.

Funeral Services for Margaret Wheeler Baucom

Funeral Services for Margaret Wheeler Baucom will be held on Friday, October 27, 2006 at 10:00 am at the Humphreys County Funeral Home, Main Street, Waverly, TN. The graveside service will be held at the Wheeler Town Cemetary, on Bold Lane, McEwen, TN. Officiating the funeral will be Reverand Milton Gordon, pastor of the Church of God of Prophecy in Huntingdon, TN.

DEATH NOTICE

Sister Margaret Wheeler Baucom passed from this life on Tuesday, October 24, 2006 in the early morning hours. She has been a member of the church for several years but lived with her brother about 80 miles from Huntingdon and then in a nursing home in Union City for the past several months. Her brother, Albert, called to tell the church and to request anyone that would like to come - to come. Funeral arrangements will be posted as received.

We thank the Lord for the 7.8 acre piece of land that we have been given to develop. The pictures below are of different parts of the property and the landscaping project.

New Church Property Pay-Off

Huntingdon Church of God of Prophecy purchased approximately 7.5 acres a little over 3 years ago for $45,000.00. The property today (after clearing, landscaping, installing water and electricity with a 30x40 ft. pavilion) is estimated to be worth $70,000.00. In a local church business meeting, after hearing the treasury report and with funds available, it was motioned and seconded and approved by the church conference to pay the balance of the property indebtedness (a little over $5000.00 balance). We will be celebrating this in our Homecoming on October 29, 2006. We thank the Lord for this in the ministry here and for the faithful leaders and workers here who have reached this milestone. We look now to continued ministry in the present and to the future and moving forward in plans for building a multi-purpose facility for growth and ministry.

SUNDAY, OCT., 22, 2006

Thank God for another great Sunday. It was good to see Jeff and April Davis and their children Sunday morning. There were several others out on trips or vacation or sick but God came and we had a great time.

Sunday evening, Sister Cathy Coleman and Karen worked on the church books for about five hours. Business conference went well Sunday evening. Several were out but we thank God for the business that was conducted. One note of excitement is that the funds to pay the new church property off were allocted by the conference to go ahead and pay the balance off. PRAISE THE LORD!

BETHEL RENNAISANCE CHOIR

Karen and I enjoyed going to Bethel College tonight to hear the yearly Rennaisance Choir Concert. This is their third year since they began and each time they seem to be better. The singing was inspiring and encouraging. They sang hymns, contemporary worship songs, country worship songs and blue-grass worship songs. They have quite a reportoire of styles and genre's of songs. They even had a time of singing some old love songs from the 50's & 60's. Jason is in his third semester there working on his Bachelor's degree concentrating in Music Education. We thank God for opening the way for him to attend college and we thank God for him and pray for him.

HUNTINGDON'S FIRST TRAFFIC SIGNALS

Although Huntingdon, TN is a town of several thousand and has dozens of stop signs, there has not ever been (according to locals) traffic signals (for stopping and going) in the town. Now Huntingdon has traffic signals at the intersection of the 22/70 by-pass and 70 West Hwy. toward Jackson very near Wal-Mart. There are four signals and also four walking signals for pedestrians. This was a surprise to many of the Huntingdon residents who took "pride" in not having traffic signals. Huntingdon is a town larger than many others that have as many as five or six traffic signals.
